We had the good fortune of connecting with Molly Stevenson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Molly, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Sharing my journey from day one has really helped me connect with my community. From the day I got my pottery wheel I filmed and documented my process for everyone to see. I have learned and grown so much along the way.
My advice is just show up, and put your art out there. No one cares if it’s perfect. It’s really cool when your community can grow with you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In a world of mass produced products, I take pride in making pottery by hand. The truth is, it costs more and it takes much more time, but I think the love and attention to detail is invaluable.
A lot of traditional pottery uses dark and rich colors (Which I love by the way). My work is unique because I tend to use light and bright colors with cheerful designs. My focus is never on perfection, but always on quality and uniqueness as each piece is one of a kind.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this question because I have some girlfriends coming to visit in a few weeks. We are definitely starting out with a solid breakfast. I want to take them to Call your Mother to get some delicious bagels. Then I want to take them into nature for a bit. Maybe we pack a lunch and find a lake or reservoir to cool off in. Then we make our way back to the city and head to RiNo. Here we can look at the street art and see if there are any pop up markets happening. Then find our favorite food truck. We will end the night at Death & Co where we can get a fun cocktail and take some photos in front of the Neon sign “Wish you were here”.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so thankful my family has always been supportive of me pursing art. As a child my parents always had various art materials around the house for my brothers and I to play with. They also helped me form the confidence and my identity by telling me I am creative. While my business is for the most part a one woman show, my amazing mother helps me ship my orders once a week. Having the love and support of my family has been paramount.

I also have to shout out my friends. When they show up to my booth at markets it absolutely makes my day!
