We had the good fortune of connecting with Mont Adams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mont, what makes you happy? Why?
God, Family, Friends, Personal relationships I have made along life’s journey, Freedom and the beauty of this world we live in!

I have had faith in and loved God for as long as I can remember. He has molded me and prepared me for all aspects of life. I am who I am today because of him and his wonderful Son, Jesus Christ. Without them, I am nothing!!

My beautiful Wife and companion for the last 40 years is my best Friend and together we have created a wonderful family that we love and has brought us so much joy and happiness. We are so grateful for all of them, including our 11 awesome Grandchildren!

We have many Friends that have blessed our lives and we love spending our very valuable time with them when possible. Many of those Friendships were developed while traveling to many countries across the world for business purposes. These individuals of all colors and nationalities have been so good to me and have taught me how special all of God’s children are.

I love this country and am so grateful for the freedom’s we enjoy. I have seen first hand on my many travels what life is like with out it and I wish we could share it with everyone.

This is a beautiful world filled with wonderful people and I hope I will have the opportunity to see more of it!!!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started in the industry 40 years ago when I joined my Wife’s family in a fishing tackle distribution company. We were so called “wagon jobbers” and would literally deliver tackle to the retailers doorstep every week during the busy season.

A few years later, we began distributing for major fly fishing brands like Scientific Anglers, Umpqua and Rio to name a few. That is when I became the most excited as I had a specific interest in fly fishing.

About 20 years ago, I began designing and manufacturing our own private label products overseas and it was not easy at first. We began by using a broker from Colorado and things didn’t always go as planned. I was able to find some helpful connections and began doing what I have enjoyed the most.

My first visit to Asia was full of it’s up’s and downs but now that I have the right people in place helping me, it has been a very successful adventurer. I have been to Asia more than 40 times and visited many countries during those visits. I have learned to love the people and have made many life long Friends. They work so hard for me and have helped make Adamsbuilt a high quality respected brand around the world.

I am so proud of the fly fishing industry and the opportunity of being just a small part of it’s success but I am most proud of the people I have met and learned to love along the way!!

I want the world to know that Mont Adams loves all people and has thoroughly enjoyed the Journey. The Adamsbuilt Fishing brand is all about that journey!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to town, I would want them to stay in my home because they are family. I would first want to take them to our small, quaint little cabin at Twin lakes in the mountains above Bridgeport, CA. It is a beautiful place with breath taking views and hiking and fishing to die for. We would have biscuits and gravy with fresh fruit for breakfast, fresh made hamburgers on the grill for lunch and hand cut steaks (also on the grill), corn on the cob from the garden and fresh made salad for dinner. We would take a hike up into the gorgeous Sierra Nevada mountains and then fish a day or two on the East Walker river and catch beautiful rainbow and brown trout.

We would return to our home, enjoy more home cooked meals and head out to Pyramid lake (60 miles away) for some world class Lahontan Cutthroat Trout fishing. They can reach sizes close to 30lbs. We would then take a drive to Lake Tahoe, one of the wonders of the world. We would walk along the beach, possibly take a swim in the very cold water and hike one of the many trails with unbelievable vistas to view this special place.

We would finish the trip off with a fishing adventure on the Truckee River. This is not an easy fishery but a place where you can catch some very large, feisty fish. I have lived in No. Nevada for 40 years and it is beautiful, with wonderful people and I am so proud to call it home!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Linda Bradley has worked for me for 30 years and came with me from a previous company when I started Adamsbuilt Fishing.

She has been doing the customer service for our company from the very beginning and is the person our customers want to talk to when they need anything.

Linda has so many skills and talents and she is Adamsbuilt Fishing’s only employee. She can take the order, pull the order, box the order, ship the order and take care of many other things as well!

I am so grateful for her and I know all of our customers are too!!
