We had the good fortune of connecting with Morganne Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Morganne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My husband, Ryan Foster, started the martial arts academy we run together; however, before I met him I always wanted to own my own business. Both my parents own their businesses, so for me it was the goal in life. Now I also own an irrigation company. I’ve always dreamed of making a big impact on the world around me. I love working with kids and the youth and that’s where I believe I can create the most change in the world. I wanted my own business, so I could run the programming the way I thought was best. My husband had 7 students before I met him and now we have 200. We get to do what we love everyday.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My vision for my martial arts academy is to have the most idolized youth program in the nation. I’ve worked at several dojo in the past, and I personally believe mine is different and powerful in its own unique way. We have the biggest youth class I’ve seen in the smallest Colorado town. The success of the program comes from all the youth mentorship. We have 15 youth leaders in each class. I’ve never seen so many youth teachers in a martial arts class. We have the adults then mentor the youth leaders once a month. Seeing the adults enjoying that so much is truly an inspiration. I love seeing everyone give to another in a world that doesn’t happen as much.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ha my town is small so not much to do “out on the town”; however, there are many outdoor activities around. If my best friend came into town, I would take her out to see all the beautiful scenery. I love to snowboard, so going up to the local resort would be top of the list. Drinks at the local pub is always fun here. Going out to the hot springs and speaking until your almost a prune is fun and of course a great escape from the rat race of life. Visiting the nearby small mountain towns and their shops is my favorite thing to do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents having their own businesses were always an inspiration to me. My coach also influenced me growing up. My greatest inspiration, however, was my faith. I listened to a lot of books, podcasts, and stories of faith and deliverance. I knew with God all I set out to accomplish was possible.
