We had the good fortune of connecting with Natalie Atehortua and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natalie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I like to consider myself a huge risk taker. I believe all the good things are on the other side of risk. Everything I’ve done has been because I took some type of risk and it led me exactly when I’m supposed to be.

When I first decided to start my career in Aesthetics, I took a huge risk by not continuing with my bachelors. When I decided to open up my first business as a solo esthetician, I had absolutely no clients and no savings yet somehow my business grew more than I ever thought was even possible.

Now here I am a few years later in Colorado, across the country from where it all started. I took a huge risk shutting down my business, moving away from Florida, completely starting over from scratch and trying to figure out what the next steps in my career are.

All of the things I have done were incredibly scary but everything always comes to fruition when you believe in yourself and step outside of that comfort zone.

Risks are good!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I owned an esthetics business called The Glow Room for about two years however I had to close down since moving across the country.

I have recently decided to completely rebrand and reinvent myself. Insert the new name, “NatalieA Aesthetics”. Moving somewhere where you know no one and are in a different time zone than friends and family is pretty hard but I’m here to take on the challenge head first.

While i’m in the process of figuring out what my next steps are, I decided to pivot and start a virtual esthetics business and create content based around skincare, health and wellness. Taking on virtual esthetics is unique but something I noticed was missing in the industry. This gives me the opportunity to connect and help so many people all across the country.
I know what it’s like to struggle with your skin and feel insecure so I love that i’m able to help people that may not have the budget to get treatments done monthly.

Starting over is not easy but like I said in the beginning, you have to take risks in order to live the life you’ve always wanted.
Throughout the past few years I’ve learned that its okay to try new things and its okay to experiment a million and one times. You have to do what’s best for you and your business.

I’m so excited for this new chapter and I can’t wait to show everyone what I’ve been working on!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite thing to do is go hiking! Im pretty new to Colorado (moved February 14, 2022 from Florida) and I’m definitely taking advantage of all the beautiful hikes and views here. So far my favorite hikes have been Herman Gulch (this was absolutely stunning, a must see). I also took a day trip to Colorado Springs and did Garden of the Gods, Also incredible!

Colorado is very different than Florida, I love how much there is to do, especially outdoors. My goal is to hike a 14er in the near future!

Some other places I go to hangout and really enjoy are happy camper (the vibe is awesome) and Avanti (there’s so many different types of foods to choose from). For breakfast, I have to admit i’m obsessed with Denver biscuit company at Stanley marketplace, you cannot go wrong with “The Franklin” biscuit!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this to my mom. She has always been my number one supporter and inspiration. Growing up with a single immigrant mother was hard but I honestly wouldn’t change a single thing. she has taught me everything I know and she’s the reason for my entrepreneurial spirit. My mom has given up so many things just for me to live a better life and I couldn’t be more thankful of all her sacrifices.
