We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathan Luce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nathan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my own personal training business, True Living Fitness, because I believe in empowering people to live healthier, more sustainable lives. With 15 years of experience, I’ve seen firsthand how fitness can transform not just bodies, but mindsets and lives. I wanted to create a space where clients feel supported on their journey—where they’re not just chasing a quick fix, but building habits that will stick with them for life.

For me, it’s more than training sessions; it’s about building a community of people who are motivated, resilient, and in tune with their own bodies. Working under someone else’s brand or gym felt limiting; I had a vision of a fitness space that’s inclusive, empathetic, and tailored to the individual needs of each client. By starting my own business, I can provide that environment and offer services that align with my values and approach.

True Living Fitness represents my commitment to a way of living that’s about feeling great from the inside out, and creating a fitness journey that’s authentic, rewarding, and lasting.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business, True Living Fitness, is dedicated to helping people achieve sustainable health and fitness in a way that fits their lifestyle. I’ve built my approach around a commitment to personalized, holistic training. My goal is not just to help clients reach their fitness goals but to empower them with tools and knowledge they can carry forward, integrating health and wellness into their lives long-term.

What sets True Living Fitness apart is our emphasis on community, authenticity, and adaptability. I work closely with clients to tailor programs that respect their unique goals and challenges. I also actively collaborate with local businesses to enhance our client experience and provide extra value, from wellness to recovery resources. Building these partnerships helps foster a sense of community, which I believe is essential to creating an environment where people can thrive.

My journey to this point hasn’t always been easy. I spent six years living in LA, where I competed in bodybuilding, worked as a fitness model, and connected with top fitness experts. That experience gave me the grit and discipline I needed to start my business, but I faced a lot of challenges along the way. From financial setbacks to the daily hustle of building a brand from the ground up, there were many moments of struggle. I leaned heavily on personal growth, drawing inspiration from books like *The Artist’s Way* and *The Five Agreements*, and I surrounded myself with mentors and a strong network.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of resilience and adaptability. Success in this industry isn’t about following a straight path; it’s about embracing the ups and downs, learning from them, and always moving forward. True Living Fitness represents that philosophy. For anyone connecting with our story, I want them to know that we’re not just about getting fit; we’re about helping people become the best versions of themselves, inside and out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Colorado for a week, I’d make sure they experienced the best of the state’s outdoor adventures, local flavors, and hidden gems. Here’s how our itinerary might look:

**Day 1:** We’d start with a classic Colorado breakfast at *Snooze* in Denver—because nothing beats their creative takes on pancakes and eggs. After fueling up, we’d spend the day exploring Red Rocks Amphitheatre, checking out the hiking trails, and soaking in the views from this iconic spot. For dinner, we’d head to *Beau Jo’s Pizza* in Idaho Springs for their legendary mountain pies and honey-topped crust, a Colorado must.

**Day 2:** We’d make our way to Boulder to hike Chautauqua Park’s scenic trails, and then have lunch at *The Kitchen* in Boulder, known for its farm-to-table food and laid-back vibe. We’d finish the day at *Pearl Street Mall*, browsing shops, catching street performers, and grabbing craft brews at *Avery Brewing Company*.

**Day 3:** I’d take them on an off-road adventure with my Bronco in the foothills or along one of Colorado’s incredible backcountry trails. We’d pack a picnic and spend the day exploring trails, lakes, and some undiscovered hot springs. We’d wrap up with a stop at *Oscar Blues Grill & Brew* for some local food and live music.

**Day 4:** This would be our “ski day.” We’d head to Breckenridge or Vail, depending on the season. After a day on the slopes, we’d unwind at *Vail Brewing Company* or one of the cozy, fireside restaurants in town.

**Day 5:** Back in Denver, we’d go for brunch at *Root Down*, then spend the afternoon exploring the RiNo Art District with its street art and galleries. We’d wrap up with a craft beer tour at some of my favorite breweries, like *Wynkoop* and *Ratio Beerworks*.

**Day 6:** We’d visit *Garden of the Gods* in Colorado Springs, then drive up to Pikes Peak for those jaw-dropping mountain views. After descending, we’d stop by *Phantom Canyon Brewing Co.* for a casual meal.

**Day 7:** For the grand finale, we’d hit up some of the unique spots in Golden, like *Coors Brewery* for a tour, and wrap up with a sunset at Lookout Mountain.

Colorado’s mix of nature, adventure, and local flavor is hard to beat. We’d leave them with memories of high-altitude views, unforgettable food, and a taste of that Colorado mountain spirit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a heartfelt shoutout to the people, experiences, and resources that have played a pivotal role in shaping my journey. My time in Los Angeles was transformative—I spent six years there immersed in the fitness scene, including frequent visits to Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach, where I connected with top professionals in the industry. Those connections, along with my years of competitive bodybuilding and even two years as a fitness model, built the foundation of my approach to fitness. Before that, I had the honor of leading my high school football team at the state level, which sparked my passion for physical and mental resilience.

Books like *The Artist’s Way*, *The Five Agreements*, and works by Eckhart Tolle have also been instrumental in guiding me. They deepened my perspective on purpose and resilience, grounding me during key transitions. I also want to recognize the incredible impact of the Dynamic Duo mastermind group—they pushed me to level up my mindset and business strategy, helping me refine my goals and approach as I launched my own personal training business.

Today, as the owner of True Living Fitness, I bring all these experiences into my work, sharing with clients not only the technical skills but the mindset that makes lasting change possible. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who’s been part of this journey; each step of the way has been enriched by their support, mentorship, and encouragement.
