We had the good fortune of connecting with Natriece Spicer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Natriece, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to answer the demands of my community and fill the needs I had and couldn’t find assistance for in my developmental adult years.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think every being is an expression of art and women especially are living poetry. I believe what sets all of us apart as creatives is our unique being – that thing each of us can only do the way we do. Specifically, my eloquence with words and passion in speech has been said to cause nods. Honestly, the living part has been much more complicated than the articulation; overall building my career as an author/poet and a wellness-business owner has been challenging but extremely rewarding. My biggest obstacle has been tackling life, love, and finances to actually show up for myself – something I feel like all of us go through. The hardest part of my creative and professional journey has been making the tough but necessary choices that push me along, protect my being or enhance who I am. Life teaches you though – experience has shown me a lot which is why I work so hard to share it with others before (or if) they have to share the same scenarios. It’s hard to say what I want the world to know about my brand. First, I truly want them to be open to learning us, listen when we say “breathe – you owe you” and join us on the journey so they can learn as we learn too!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It depends! My most likely-to-be-seen places are Bay Area Ca, Las Vegas, and occasionally ATL. Most likely we’d be in California, perousing SF/Oakland then headed from the Bay’s poetry scene snd museums of modern art, down to the cultured spots in LA, Longbeach and Venice Beach. BUT! if it’s winter at all we’d go north for some Tahoe snow and Reno slots. Plus we could always land in the middle for summer and hike/camp/BBQ in the sequoia woods of Cali. I love the state it’s amazing and it’s home. I also love to go next door to Vegas for the grown-up fun times. My newest affection is Atlanta, the poetry, music, and arts scenes are reminiscent of what you’d imagine some of the old renaissance places to be like intellectual, dark and sexy, swanky, black, and soulful. I love the varieties of culture, education, and entrepreneurship displayed in the popping city. My pics would be Lithonia, Edgewood, and Old Fourth Ward for some exciting varying paces. Make sure to stop Tassili’s Raw Reality and Atlanta Underground.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are two namely: Broken By Violence owned by Ebony Antoine, who has been unbending in her support, and Freedom Soul Media Education Initiatives who is a key corporate partner for contracts and has largely contributed to our business success.
