We had the good fortune of connecting with Neil Olivier and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Neil, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
With anything that I’ve done as a business, always started as a one-off for myself. Then friends, people on social media or word of mouth would spread and I would start having requests to make more. My mother used to say that I had so much talent, and anything I touched turned to gold. I don’t know if that is true, however it seems that people do like what I create.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I focus on trying to stay original, but also specialize in making replicas. In my original products, I am always striving to improve and each one comes with many many versions and upgrades. Sometimes I will just pick something I currently make or once made, and try to look at it in a different light. Can I make it better, higher quality, quicker, easier to ship, almost anything and everything to make the best possible product I can. I think that’s what sets me apart from others who may offer something similar to me, is that I have a giant toolbox of experience in a lot of different mediums. I am artist, so I can draw, paint, airbrush, pinstripe, sculpt, mold, photoshop, use CAD software to design a product from scratch. I am a metal worker, so I can weld, cut, bend and shape steel. I work with plastics, resins, acrylics, foam, wood, concrete, just about any medium or material I can use for whatever I can dream up or my customers can dream up. Through the years I have built custom motorcycles, ATVs, hot rods, and $250,000 show cars for the SEMA show in Las Vegas. I have also invented and designed several motorcycle parts in the past that was my focus for a long time, however in the last year I have set my sights back on my passion for all things horror and haunt related, which is what Chainsaw Graphics has been since 2001.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, it would be confined to a dinner or maybe an evening. If they are coming for a week, I’m putting them to work helping me fill orders.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I draw inspiration from everywhere, and most of what I’ve learned through the years has been from trial and error. I can give thousands of thank yous to Youtube creators, TV personalities, how-to books and more. I am an independent artist, so in turn I try to support other independent artists when I can. Many of whom I look up to and draw inspiration from. However my wife is my biggest fan and supporter. Even though sometimes the hours are long working on projects she is understanding. Even when I think I’ve nailed something perfectly, she is brave enough to tell me its not done,.. I overlooked one small part. She is my toughest critic as well as my biggest fan.
For the last year I have also been a sponsor of Scurryface.com which is all things Haunted Houses. Tyler, Shannon and the entire Scurryface organization has been a huge help in boosting Chainsaw Graphics in the haunt world and help giving me new challenges.
