We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Briggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to create a business that would Support my community. I wanted to be able to change lives and enable families to be Empowered to be able to live and enjoy life. By providing them the resources and tools to grow in a world that is changing daily.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a store Manager at Starbucks and I am the CEO and Founder of Lifeempowerednyc. I started out years ago as a part time sales associate during college and worked my way up in retail. With 3 years I was a Store manager at another company. During my time there I completed college and wanted to teach and effect lives of the youth. So.i became a teacher but when my son became sick I had to take a break to focus on him. So after a year I went to work for Starbucks and have been there now for 11 years. I was a VP of a non for profit 7 years before I started Lifeempowerednyc. I learned that being part of the village was not enough… we had to become the village to understand the needs of the community and families. I do so many community events in NYC: Lupus walk where we feed all the participants which are over 3,000 walkers Basketball summer tournament where we host 1150 kids Bookbag drive and school supplies give away. Even thru covid we gave away over 350 bags filled with supplies Food for the soul event : we provide over 300.families with complete hot meals Toy drive for Christmas: we gave away 1,000 toys to children in the hospital, shelters, and the community My Organization is based on empowering the lives of families with resources to be successful in life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would visit Time Square in NYC We would eat lots of chocolate.. I love chocolate. Seafood is a must as well in City Island We would place that I lived and of course we would attend my one many events. We will go to one of the mentorship session my organization provides If basketball is in season catch a game in Brooklyn Last but not least we would attend my church so we can get recharged with prayer. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To my family.. my community and my two mentors who have helped guide me to the person I am today. I.love to read leadership books and would encourage those that would like to lead on any level on their lives to do the same. Join some leadership circles to grow your mind and connections
