We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Collins-barron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
When I first started La Luna Florals, I knew I wanted to create a space for BIPOC couples to feel like they are absolutely deserving of high quality floral designs. I had decided once we officially launched to represent the culture and background I came from. Since then, I have gotten an incredible amount of clients that have chosen us because they were able to see a little bit of themselves in the way we run our business and how we celebrate our heritage.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Before starting La Luna Florals, I had worked in the nutrition field for five years. Burn out hit, and I needed an outlet to keep a balance in my life. I had never owned or run a business before this, so everything was brand new, exciting, and a little daunting. With the support of my family, the confidence to keep going came easy.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit, I would take her to brunch next to Chitaqua, hang out on Pearl Street, go to lunch at Carbon Cabron on Broadway, then end with a little backyard hang out!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my family and the Latino community for continuing to inspire and support our business.
