We had the good fortune of connecting with Nikki Brooker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nikki, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When two local moms took their lives and the lives of their kiddos, I created a nonprofit to support moms. Two tragedies led me to see the need for postpartum support for ALL moms.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was an educator of over 20 years and loved being an educator but running this Nonprofit is truly my life’s work and my soul-fulfilling endeavor. My lifelong need to learn and educate is continuing through YANA.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Colorado is beautiful and full of spender. We would visit places like Red Rocks, Garden of the Gods, Golden, Rocky Mountain National Park and hike up to one of the many hikes where you can see all of the continental divide.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our Board of Directors, both past and present have helped build our programs and supports that are creating generational mental health change! I couldn’t have done any of it without their support.
