We had the good fortune of connecting with Nish and chatting about Rainbows – a collection of nature inspired colors! We’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Hi I am Nish. I am a multidisciplinary Product Designer based out of Denver, who has experience designing mobile, web, wearables, and next-generation automobile interfaces.

Coming from an engineering educational background, and having interned as a Product Manager, I often find myself at the intersection of engineering, product, and design, which helps me design beautiful, usable, accessible and enjoyable products for people to use and love.

My end goal in everything I do is to make digital products easier to use, and Rainbows was born out of a similar thought. Being a designer, I often find myself searching for inspiration when selecting color palettes for my designs, so I decided to create a simple, open, crowd-sourced platform with nature-inspired color palettes.

All colors ever used by a human being come from nature, the greatest source of inspiration. Hence the idea was to create an easy to use, infinitely scrollable collection of color palettes inspired by nature photographs. These can then be used by artists in their work to get a similar vibe.

Being a proud University of Colorado Boulder Buff and a proud resident of Colorado for 4 years I have a huge collection of pictures from our beautiful state which served as a base for this project. The next step in its evolution which I am currently designing and developing is the ability for users to generate their own color palettes by uploading their photographs using artificial intelligence. It will be a fun project for me!

Rainbows is a crowd-sourced platform to provide inspiration for designers and creatives as well as highlight the beautiful work of photographers and the beauty of our state. How has your work-life balance changed over time?

I am a practitioner of stoicism and I believe it’s just not limited to work-life balance but in general living a balanced life. The goal in life is to define your ideal day, balanced with being present, focused action and fulfillment on an inner spiritual level. And then trying your best to get closer to this ideal day every day. That’s balance. That’s happiness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots and activities around include going for an evening stroll and enjoying the nightlife at Pearl Street in Downtown Boulder. Going for a Nuggets/Broncos/Avalanche game or an awesome concert with friends with sunset at Red Rocks. Hiking literally anywhere in the area with your doggo. Cycling with friends along the Boulder Creek Path. Going for a day trip or weekend trip to any of the mountain towns or hot springs. Exploring nightlife and restaurants with beautiful views like Linger in downtown Denver. For those who know how to ski (I don’t) this is the perfect place with so many slopes and ski resorts. I can go on and on, but the gist is there is something to do and be a part of for everyone here and that’s why I love this place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to this beautiful state and the people here. While coming for my Masters, I was always a bit anxious about moving to a new country and the United States being a bit different culturally from my home back in India but, ever since I have been here, the people of Colorado and especially Boulder have made me feel like I never left home. I am inspired and humbled by the astonishing beauty of my second home every day I wake up. I feel welcomed, at peace and my creative best here. I have cried, laughed, made great friends, produced great work and have lived a great life so far under these mountains.
