We had the good fortune of connecting with Novet and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Novet, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I come from a smaller city in Davenport Iowa. I grew up in the inner city which had it’s challenges but also helped build my character and perspective on life. Growing up I was always challenged by my parents to work hard, stay dedicated, and stay focused on what I wanted in life. I was able to take what I learned from my upbringing and apply it to my music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what helps set me apart from a lot of hip hop artist in today’s era is that I am a product and student of the artistry we call Hip Hop. Growing up I was encouraged to study hip hop legends like Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Tupac, Rakim, etc and take notes from them. As I learned from the greats I was able to morph this into my own style and approach to creating music. My music is a blend of lyrical substance and mainstream sounds. I learned that from the greats.

My ultimate goal is for the world to appreciate my dedication to creating music of substance but also creating music that is fun to listen to. Not every songs needs to be an introspective thought piece so having the ability to turn that switch on and off is what I’d like the world to know about my artistry. Examples of this would be my new single “Make My Way” and on of my favorite single “Everything”. I think those examples showcase the blueprint of my creativity.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take my best friend to the RiNo Art District. This is probably my favorite area in Denver. They have a lot of great breweries, coffee shops, shops, and restaurants in the area. Two of my favorite breweries Ratio and 14er are in RiNo. They also recently added a Puttshack which is always a great time. You could spend an entire afternoon in the RiNo Art District and still not do everything. Great spot!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my friends in the music community that have helped guide and challenge me along my journey. They’ve all been very supportive and without their support, who knows if I’d still be making music at the level I am.
