We had the good fortune of connecting with Olivia Merrill and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Olivia, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from a family of 6 in a small town in Maine, known as Gorham. My family played a very large part in forming the person I am today, as do all of our families! I was taught the value of hard work, family and spirituality and how important these things are in life. I wouldn’t be who I am today without the experience I had in my upbringing…. I experienced a lot of love, support and happiness and for that I am forever grateful. I also experienced a great deal of pain and trauma as a young child. The pain impacted in a unique way. I have learned over the years that I am extremely grateful for that experience as well as it taught me survival skills and it taught me how to protect myself as well as how to thrive regardless of my environment. It taught me I could chose the outcome of any situation, bad or good. I could use the situation/pain to fuel my drive for success. That is what I have done and still continue to do!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a realtor with Team Denver Homes. We service home buyers, sellers and investors all over the Denver metro area! I started in Real Estate in 2014 and I have been pushing my business forward ever since. I am absolutely passionate about helping people achieve their wealth goals through real estate and I love what I do! My team and I offer a concierge level type of service that is unmatched in this market. We are well-known for the energy, and the grit and fight we bring for our clients, our communication + social media skills as well as our innovative approach to the industry. I am also a blogger, my brand is known as The Denver Look – it’s one of Denver’s top fashion blogs. I’m also very passionate about the fashion industry and I absolutely love being a resource to people. I use my brand to promote and push local Denver businesses as well as to make connections for my clients. Both through real estate and through my brand, I support local organizations and business and I am very passionate about inspiring others to do the same. It was not always easy, don’t get me wrong! It took me a while to get my business where it’s at now and I still go through difficult times now and then. When I find myself going through it, I always remember that pain brings growth and ultimately strength. It might not be comfortable but I know when I come out on the other side I will have grown personally and professionally. That is what keeps me pushing forward – I have an insatiable hunger for growth and ultimately, success.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hardest question ever! You need at least a month to fully get the gist of the INCREDIBLE lifestyle Denver offers. My suggestion would be to spend one day in each of Denver’s hottest spots, this of course is dependent upon the time of year you visit. A few must visits hot spots: Linger in LoHi and stop by Little Man Ice Cream for some desert. Spend a day in RiNo checking out the The Denver Central Market then brewery hopping – start at Infinite Monkey and work your way around Larimer Street. Hit up Chautauqua Park in Boulder for a morning hike and follow up at Red rocks for an outdoor, evening concert. Grab brunch in Cherry Creek North at True Food Kitchen or North and browse around all the local shops, galleries and more! Rent a bike and cruise around Wash Park – follow that up by checking out the Sante Fe art walk on Fridays in the summer. Head a bit south to DTC (Denver Tech Center) for dinner or happy hour a Jing at the Landmark…continue on for some after dinner delights at Crumble Cookies. Finish off the week at a Rockies game followed up by rooftop drinks at Avanti w amazing Downtown views…. Sounds like the perfect week to me!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my sister. She is literally ME in another body LOL I honestly don’t think I would be alive today if it wasn’t for her and I can guarantee she would say the same. We complete each other, we always have.
