We had the good fortune of connecting with Paul Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paul, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Our community lacked an art organizations for local artists. There are quite a few artists here, and a lot of money in the community. So I hooked up with a friend and we started Castle Rock Artist Alliance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I painted and sculpted during a healthcare administration career, but only began taking it seriously once I retired. I moved to Castle Rock and started the art nonprofit (Castle Rock Artist Alliance) with a friend. It was challenging because there was not an art organization in the town, but there were a lot of artists willing to contribute so they could sell their art. We worked with local businesses for exhibits, knowing it would bring in customers and help out our members as well. We developed an art therapy program for veterans and first responders (at no cost to them), and we started a film festival for amateur filmmakers. Covid hit us hard in 202o, but we made it through and now we are thriving.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sinners & Saints for quality drinks, Union Restaurant for great food, and COFF33 for excellent coffee. And while we were at each location, I would show them the members art pieces there because these venues are top notch sponsors of the organization. In addition, Castle Rocks & Jewelry are also quality sponsors so we would visit there as well. Then we would head out to the Theater of Dreams for a live show because they offer us a venue for the film festival. Great art, food, and drinks is the way to go.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shout out to the Board of Directors of the Castle Rock Artist Alliance, who work tirelessly to build a local art community and help artists, veterans, first responders, and students achieve their artistic goals.
