We had the good fortune of connecting with pila xian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi pila, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The idea for Heaven on Earth started with a simple suggestion from my boyfriend: why not offer mobile oxygen facials? It seemed like a brilliant way to bring the spa experience directly to clients. I dove in, building a clientele and securing contracts with local private golf clubs. But the reality of lugging heavy equipment, tables, and supplies around quickly became overwhelming.

I longed for a space of my own, a place where I could create a truly unique experience and have control over my destiny. That’s when the vision for Heaven on Earth was born. It was about more than just offering services – it was about building a sanctuary, a haven where clients could escape from the stresses of everyday life and prioritize their well-being. That dream became a reality 12 years ago, and it’s been an incredible journey ever since.

What should our readers know about your business?
Heaven on Earth isn’t just a day spa – it’s a sanctuary I built 12 years ago, pouring my heart and soul into every detail. What truly sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to personalized care. As the owner and operator, I’m deeply invested in fostering genuine connections with each client, ensuring their experience is heavenly and leaves a lasting impression.

This October marks our 13th anniversary, and the journey has been far from easy. In the ever-changing world of online marketing, I’ve had to become a student of SEO, master the nuances of Facebook, and adapt to Instagram’s rise. Social media has become a full-time job, but it’s allowed me to connect with clients in new and meaningful ways.

One of our most exciting innovations is our online store and my virtual Gua Sha facials for remote teams. These virtual sessions offer a much-needed respite for those seeking self-care and connection in our increasingly digital world.

Why Virtual Gua Sha Facials?
Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that promotes lymphatic drainage, relieves tension, and leaves skin glowing. Our virtual facials make this powerful practice accessible to anyone, anywhere. We guide participants through each step, ensuring they experience the full benefits from the comfort of their own homes.

Lessons Learned and Our Message to the World
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to never stop learning. The spa industry never stands still, and adopting innovations like virtual facials has helped us reach a wider audience.

I want your readers to know that Heaven on Earth is more than just a spa – we’re a community deeply committed to well-being. Whether you visit us in person or join a virtual session, I’m here to help you find your slice of heaven on Earth.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Aspen is absolutely stunning in the summer. We have a local saying here: I came for the winter and stayed for the summer. And it’s true. Summer is even better than winter. There’s so much more to do in the summer than in the winter.

First, get her settled into a luxurious but historic spot like The Jerome Hotel or a cozy condo. Then it’s off to my favorite lunch at Meat & Cheese for farm-to-table salads, sandwiches, and charcuterie boards—it’s my favorite!

We’ll take it easy since she’ll be acclimating to the altitude and grab an ice cream cone to beat the heat and listen to the young musicians from the Aspen Music Festival while they play impromptu concerts on street corners. It’s the perfect soundtrack to begin our summer adventure.

When it comes to dinner, there are too many excellent options to choose from! You can’t have a “favorite” restaurant in Aspen because they’re all so good. First on the list is Clark’s Oyster Bar (where I spotted Kris Jenner having lunch), where they make everything, down to the tartar sauce, homemade. Another night, we’ll go to Duemani, where sitting at the bar means getting entertained by their bartender making beautiful cocktails. And we can’t miss out on the Asian fusion from Jing. Try their Aspen Roll!

It may not seem an obvious choice, but I’ll take her to the Aspen Art Museum. I am instantly transported to NYC with its striking contemporary space and curated rotating exhibitions. We’ll lunch at its rooftop cafeteria, which offers incredible mountain views.

Adventure is a must in every Aspen trip! We’ll embark on a thrilling hike to the summit of Lost Man, where we’ll enjoy our Big Wraps wraps while being mesmerized by the breathtaking views of the Elk Mountains. After this exhilarating experience, we’ll cool off with a refreshing stand-up paddleboard (SUP) session on the tranquil waters of North Star Nature Preserve. As a special treat, I’ll pamper my friend with a rejuvenating oxygen facial at my spa, Heaven on Earth – the perfect way to unwind and refresh after a day of outdoor excitement.

One of my favorite things is to grab an ice cream cone to beat the heat and listen to the young musicians from the Aspen Music Festival while they play impromptu concerts on street corners. It’s the perfect soundtrack to our summer adventure. And we’ll catch a live music performance at the Belly Up, an intimate venue that attracts some big-name acts.
