We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Kroncke and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work-life balance is deeply personal and often fluctuates as we navigate the demands of life. While one area may require more focus at times, finding flexibility within our personal boundaries is key.

Throughout my life, I’ve been driven by a deep desire to learn and grow—whether as a high-achieving student, a collegiate athlete, or a dedicated professional. As a young Physical Therapist, I poured my energy into my career, aiming to be the best for my patients. At the same time, I wanted to be present for my loved ones and maintain an active lifestyle. I gave so much of myself, thinking it made me a better person and professional.

I quickly learned, however, that our minds and bodies aren’t designed to constantly be “ON.” My nervous system had trouble turning off, and I felt too busy for self-care. This taught me the importance of setting boundaries—without them, my health suffered, and I couldn’t show up as my best, authentic self. As an empathic healer, I realized I couldn’t pour from an empty cup. I quickly recognized that taking time for self-care is essential, especially when serving others.

Over time, and with guidance from supportive mentors and holistic healers, I’ve found a better balance. By respecting my personal time and setting clear boundaries, I prioritize my health and can better serve others. Owning my own business has given me the flexibility to focus on my well-being and choose the opportunities that align with my values. I also recognize that this balance will continue to shift as I grow and my priorities evolve.

I’ve learned that we don’t need to constantly be busy to have value. Sometimes, we are most valuable simply by being present and choosing ourselves. In a world that often demands more, it’s crucial to embrace balance—setting aside time for reflection, self-care, and wellness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My passion has always been helping people to move and feel better. My journey began as a Health Sciences major and Personal Trainer, where I gained valuable experience in exercise training and strength progression. This foundation deepened my appreciation for movement, functional exercise, and posture. I then pursued a career as a Doctor of Physical Therapy, expanding my knowledge in rehabilitation, pain management, and movement science—tools that allow me to guide people more effectively through healing, strengthening, and optimal recovery.

As a Physiotherapist and Movement Specialist, I help clients better understand their body mechanics and provide individualized interventions to empower them on their wellness journey. I’m particularly passionate about posture and breathwork—two fundamental elements that significantly impact daily life, performance, and overall well-being. I often approach the body from an asymmetrical perspective, recognizing that we are not symmetrical creatures under our skin, even though we expect our bodies to move the same side to side. The Pilates method plays a key role in my treatment approach, enhancing movement quality, breath control, and postural connection. It’s a versatile tool that supports rehabilitation, strength training, and complements sports and recreational activities.

In addition to exercise-based therapy, I incorporate hands-on techniques like cupping, muscle energy, and dry needling to support recovery. These therapies help reduce pain, promote tissue healing, improve alignment, and accelerate progress—making it easier for clients to engage in strengthening and movement work necessary for long-term results.

Over time, my desire to provide patient-centered care in a way that aligns with my skills and values led me to create Root Wellness Physiotherapy. Owning my own business has allowed me to blend my expertise in movement science, rehabilitation, and Pilates while maintaining the flexibility to offer high-quality care and sustain a healthier work-life balance.

There have been many challenges along my path to business ownership and growth as a practitioner. Starting a business always comes with risks, but taking risks is essential for learning and growth. The key is distinguishing between calculated risks and reckless ones. We have to decide if the potential outcome is worth the sacrifice. More often than not, we regret the opportunities we don’t take far more than the ones we do. It’s been a rewarding journey for me, and I’m honored to help others take control of their health in a meaningful and sustainable way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting northern Colorado for a week, I’d want them to experience the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and local flare.

We’d start close to home with an early morning hike on the Sundance Trail near Carter Lake, breathing in the crisp air and refreshing views. Afterward, we’d grab food at one of my favorite spots in downtown Loveland, then cap off the day with live music or an outdoor refreshment at Sweetheart Winery.

Next, we’d spend a day in Estes Park, exploring the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park – hiking to an alpine lake or waterfall, spotting elk, and taking in the stunning mountain views. Afterward, we’d wander through downtown, browsing local shops and enjoying delicious food and drinks at Ed’s Cantina.

Midweek, we might switch things up with a trip to Fort Collins, enjoying a peaceful walk through the flowering Gardens of Spring Creek, exploring Old Town’s charming shops, or touring a local brewery like Odell or New Belgium.

We’d fit in days with a wellness-focused reset – perhaps a Pilates or Yoga session, coffee at Feel Love, massage, or a peaceful walk with the dogs along one of our beautiful local trails.

To wrap up the trip, we’d take a scenic drive and hike to one of my favorite hidden gems in the Front Range, soaking in the last bit of fresh air and mountain magic – the end to a perfect week!
