Meet Raquel Gerlani | Content creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Gerlani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raquel, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent was to make the hard decision to move to United States while my son stayed with his father in Brazil so I could focus on working and making a career to provide a better life and hopefully a brighter future for him. While I am here I’m able to provide a better education for him, pay for courses that will definitely benefit him in the future. It is a sacrifice we had to make for a better future. He was only 5 years old. It is a decisive age to learn new language and skills. He has a private English teach, take swim classes, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes, go to a full time bilingual school, he just started taking graphic design classes that he loves.
I go to Brazil once a year and during his school vacation we go an a trip to a different country.
Also technologies makes the absence less painful. We do video calls, text all the time…
I am 100 % sure he will be grateful in the near future once he gets the option to decide to come live with me or stay in Brazil.
We as parent we need to be the ones to plan our kids future.
I am proud of my decision and how far I’ve come and the difference I’ll make in my son’s life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It was a very natural process. I was a student here in New York and used to share my trips on my instagram and one day I was invited by a photographer to shoot a campaign for a bridal magazine. I posted some of the photos we shot on my instagram and other brands started reaching out to me asking to work together. I started then researching more about the industry and going to some events I met other influencers and we started sharing contacts and information, taking pictures together. As the time has passed I’ve been dedicating more and more to content creation world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Kick off our day at a museum—the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) Join an early-access guided tour to speed through collection highlights without crowds. Then head to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Book a Ground Zero memorial tour for an insightful experience and upgrade to visit the 9/11 Museum.
Have breakfast at Felix Roasting. We could take a helicopter tour so see Manhattan from above. Have picnic in Central Park. Visit the Empire State Building. Go check the vessel out and stop at Queensyard for lunch with the view to Vessel.
And close the night at a nice rooftop.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I truly belief that no one can succeed without the help of at least one single person. I am grateful for the t support of my family. I am grateful for my friends that many times helped me with pictures, ideas, going to events with me.
