Meet Rebecca P. Cohen | Founder, ShareMyJourney.org

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca P. Cohen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rebecca P. Cohen, how does your business help the community?
ShareMyJourney.org is a community of caring people who share their life experiences in service to others, whether in 1:1 conversations, small groups online, or in journey-sharing events. There are times in life when you are going through something, whether with your career, your health, or a relationship, and you’d love to know how someone navigated a situation, but there is no one to talk to. ShareMyJourney.org makes those intentional connections happen in an easy way. We all have wisdom to share, but also need help. ShareMyJourney.org members lift up one another along our paths.
Our individual experiences are incredibly powerful. When we hear someone’s lived experience, we start to open our hearts and minds. We might recognize a bit of ourselves in each other. We learn to share a little more of ourselves. We start to give ourselves permission to celebrate who we are and glean nuggets from others’ journeys to inform our own preferences and next steps.
ShareMyJourney.org members are growing and learning from each other. Some have written books, started businesses and nonprofits, moved to their dream locations, doubled their income, started second careers, and increased daily fulfillment – each of us is unique. Together, we witness and support each other’s personal growth according to what is individually important to each of us, and not someone else’s expectations.
An affordable annual membership (e.g. $100/year for individuals), there are also weekly virtual circles around topics that when practiced, contribute to more day-to-day fulfillment. These monthly topics include Accountability, Discovering What’s Next for You, Manifesting, and Processing Emotion. There is even a Caregiver Circle for those caring for aging or ill family members. ShareMyJourney.org members appreciate that they can participate at their convenience and according to what resonates with them. They can pop into any session when it suits them. There is no obligation.
ShareMyJourney.org also offers individual Fulfillment Coaching for more customized support, and also consulting for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion teams in creating impactful employee journey-sharing events aligned with people goals.

What should our readers know about your business?
Authentic and meaningful connection that is easy and makes a difference is at the heart of ShareMyJourney. I had wanted to start ShareMyJourney.org for eight years and fear was the only thing holding me back. Now on our third anniversary, I am in awe of what members have shared about their involvement. Here are three of my favorite testimonials: “In the age of social media, virtual meetings and online relationships I have never felt a more authentic and genuine connection with “strangers” and new friends!”….” I love knowing I can make a difference in someone’s life just by being there for them and sharing my experience with what they’re going through.”….”It’s flexible and not demanding. You give what you can and take what you need to. No pressure or judgment. How refreshing is that?”
Starting any endeavor requires identifying where you get stuck, the options for moving through or around your obstacles, setting attainable goals, and holding yourself accountable in moving forward, step by step. I have achieved goals without the help of coaches and achieved goals with the help of coaches. Given the amount of fear I had and how long the fear lasted around this goal, I definitely sought the help of a coach! What I love about ShareMyJourney is witnessing the support that each of us can give to someone else just by sharing our experiences and how the ShareMyJourney.org circles help members move forward with what is important to them, whether a small step or a giant leap.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love showing friends what I love about Steamboat Springs, Colorado. My favorite view of the ski mountain from the Yampa river is downtown from the bridge between 9th and 10th off Yampa Street. The Core Trail along the river is plowed during winter and always a great path for a walk (and a favorite for a bike ride in summer). Besame and Laundry are my go-to favorites for Happy Hour, but one thing I love about Steamboat is that just about every restaurant has happy hour seven days a week. There are a lot of great breakfast spots, but Winona’s is my favorite, although plan for a wait (they’ll text you when your table is ready) and walk around the shops downtown. Strawberry Hot Springs is magical during winter, but make your reservations months in advance!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A lot of founders will tell you that they started their businesses with their families and friends, and mine is no exception! A special shout out goes to my big sister, Actress Marni Penning Coleman, who has always been my cheerleader and looks out for me. She’s gone out of her way to lend her many talents in service to the difference I want to make, including as illustrator of my early reader children’s book series PJ’s Backyard Adventures, and as narrator and producer of the audiobook to my first book, 15 Minutes Outside: 365 Ways to Get Out of the House and Connect with Your Kids. She even told me about an awesome organization called Pretty Damn Ambitious that I’ve joined as a Coach.
I’ve always been drawn to sharing with others the simple yet life-changing ways I have increased my personal fulfillment, and my next shoutout goes to all the ShareMyJourney members who have not only raised their hand to share their life experiences in service to others, but now also facilitate ShareMyJourney circles and have started to offer more of their content and expertise in ShareMyJourney courses now available once a month to anyone seeking the support they offer.
