We had the good fortune of connecting with Richard Rhaburm Jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Richard, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
One of the single most important decisions that i have made and make daily that i feel contribute to success is , not being afraid of failing. Failing doesnt mean youve failed , to me it means you have more to learn. I f you wanted to beat a deadline and missed it then what did you do wrong or what could you do better next time to hit that deadline. Never be afraid to not be perfect but try your hardest to perfect everything you do. Success takes ALOT of patience and even more ups and downs.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art i feel comes from within daily. Everyday i wake up motivated to do better than i did yesterday and be a better man , person , and father than i was before. I believe you can find inspiration for art everyday whether that be driving around and seeing different landscapes , being on social medias and appreciating others installations , or even from my old jobs , i always find inspiration for new art in my designs. One thing i feel that sets me apart from others is the fact that i listen to my clients and i am never to successful to feel im NOT teachable. Everyday i want to learn something new to better myself and my business. There have been plenty of lessons along the way but my main one is dont get too comfortable . nothing last always , so dont see the dollar signs and let that get to your head but also dont let the days/weeks without a signed job get you down either stay focused on the mission always. One thing i would love for the world to take away from getting to know Smile A Day is to remember to smile remeber life is what YOU make it so wake up daily motivated to chase a dream go after it and grind your hardest til you achieve your goals

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a sucker for outdoors I love to be outdoors and just vibe with nature. So if my best friend were to come out here which a few of them have lol we definitely always go to Manitou Springs we see some of the local shops let them get their souvenir items And a few of my best friends we have hit the incline. I also love going up to the mountains Old Stage Rd., Rampart or gold camp. I just enjoying the view the scenery and getting away. If they were here for a week I would make sure we saw all of the outdoor attractions. All of Colorado has the offer definitely the kissing camels, and then local dive bars for instance, the Blacksheep or sunshine Studios place. I love to spend time on my own time

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout Hiner Landscape , as well as Sunny day preschool. I went to sunny day when i was a toddler and also when i was a kid while my little sister attended. Sunny day was all about love and smiles and being the best person you can be always and that inspired me fro ma young age to chase my dreams and to always chase everyday with determination and motivation. After my time in the military i moved to Colorado where i met Matt Hiner. Matt is one of the most upstanding respectable genuine people on earth. While working for Hiner landscape Matt would have classes where he taught us how to do the most beautiful landscape designs and installation process. Not only did he hold classes every week but they were also paid classes where he paid us out of his own pocket to ensure we knew how to install landscape at the upmost quality so from me to them SHOUTOUT
