We had the good fortune of connecting with Rooftop York and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rooftop, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My perspective has changed on balance but ultimately it’s the same because there is no balance lol life is crazy and full of ups and downs . Really I just go where I’m guided try to be a decent person and work my tail off every single chance I get.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Ok Im a producer and Vibe Maestro/dj I run a studio Called Rooftopsound records in Denver by East Mississippi and South Parker Road we specialize hip hop but can produce in any genre. The studio has some top notch equipment and a great vibe check out our reviews on google! Things that I believe separate me is my passion to help artist make a great record! I have a motto “No record left behind” because every record has the potential to be great with me working on it. we gone make sumn shake lol. I also think my level of professionalism sets the sound apart from others I like to have fun through execution of the craft. It definitely wasn’t easy and it’s still extremely hard to this day there are so many moving parts in this music biz but I love it! Some lessons I learned along the way is, “trust people to be who they are when they show you’ , “anything is possible if you don’t give up” and ” You are not in control of anything but yourself so just be the best you”. It’s a triumphant story and brand I’ve been through so many ups and downs in my life with way more downs but I stayed myself and continued to work even when some people kicked me while im down. All that brought me to the core of myself and im stronger than ever !! looking forward to the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well mainly we would be locked in the studio creating because most my friends are artist. I guess if we were to go out it would be for food and we would hit Saucy southern or BB.q chicken those spots is so fire!! If we wanted to pop out catch a club vibe we would just find wherever DJ Squizzy Taylor is at , wherever bro is at its guaranteed to be jumping. Then we would just repeat that over and over again while trying to make some hits fr lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to use this to shout out my amazing wife Nicole York! She has stuck by my side through it all ! From me Leaving my good paying job to pursue engineering full time, or my difficulties working at other studios, she has been there . What’s crazy she was building her tattoo career while still being supportive definitely check out Black mamba tattoo. we are a great team fr fr. I love you bug!
