We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosalie Kelley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rosalie, why did you pursue a creative career?
When I was in high school I was considering attending the police academy with the ultimate goal in mind of one day joining the FBI. As a young 17 year old senior about to graduate I received the best piece of advice, “do what you love so that you never have to work a day in your life”. I then thought of what my life could be as an FBI agent and decided that my path would be different.
Growing up I always loved hair and makeup. I was always the one coloring my own hair and getting my friends ready for school dances by doing their makeup or hair. So I decided to enroll into cosmetology school and now I get to do what I love every single day. Having an artistic career has given me the freedom to create work I can be proud of and bonus, it’s a lot of fun as well.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art goes beyond just making my clients look good, if I can make them feel good too then I’m doing my job right. I am a hair stylist and I offer cut, color and extension services. I am passionate about what I do. I have been so fortunate to find a salon that feels like family and that prides themselves on making everyone feel like they are as well.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them up to glen wood springs for the hot springs as well as the adventure park for a couple nights.
Check out meow wolf downtown and find some speak easy bars like William & graham. Go on a hike in evergreen and get beau jos pizza
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
