We had the good fortune of connecting with Roshay Neil and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roshay, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
I think the most important thing I’ve done as a parent in the terms of the impact of my child is always being there for her no matter the situation, and showing her that’s there’s more than one path to life. That she can do any and everything she puts her mind too and to try as many things as possible until she gets it right. I try to be the example I can be to her because I know she looks up to me for guidance. And because of that failing is not an option.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is styles by roshay. I’m a licensed cosmetologist and Im a hairstylist at Dear Madame Walker salon in Colorado Springs. What sets me apart from others is that I’m me, and that’s all i ever strive to be. I’m most proud about my growth and the things to come. Excited about the business women I’m turning into. I got here by really taking a leap a faith and doing it while scared and uncertain of the outcome. Making alot of mistakes and still learning as I go. It was definitely not easy you have to stay on your grind 24 7. Because if you don’t have clients you don’t make any money so you have to make sure your grinding and constantly learning new things. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is that it’s ok to help other stylist and work together it’s enough money out her for everyone. And connections are everything. What I want the world to know about me is that ima child of God and first. And that I want to see everyone one win no hate in my bones. When one makes it inspires the next person to make it. So let’s keep the blessings flowing!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would say Ambli Global Cusine for a great dinner. My celebrity Chef friend Chantal restaurant that’s called Luchals at Coati downtown for a nice fun chill vibe delicious seafood and chicken wings and so much more, with music and good drinks. Then we would go to top golf and hit a few. And you can’t forget about the summit! Bowling and arcade fun. And last but not least we could check out the new spot Epiphany downtown to vibe and network.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dear madame walker salon! Has been my home since I decided to branch off and start working for myself. I’ve met some of the most coolest, talented group of boss women from this shop. Feels like a big family over there and is never a dull moment! Kelli Ciara the owner love her to pieces, she is the baddest and loves what she does and her work reflects that, such an inspiration. And the shop wouldn’t be what is with out Tedosha Sims. She brings all the smoke and energy to the shop lol and Dayshon Phillips who’s keeps it real, cool, and will get you right! I’ve been blessed to learn from each and everyone that has came and gone from the shop. Janet Perrault, Jessica Smith, Slim, Deanna Green just to name a few. That have worked at the salon and grew to be the best they could be amen branched off build there own empire! Such a beautiful and inspiring thing to watch! Proud of all of them and kelli for building the type of space and energy in her shop to allow us to grow and blossom. Best salon ever!
