We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan + Lindsay Longenecker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan + Lindsay, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting a business is often a blend of personal motivations, professional aspirations, and pragmatic considerations. In Ryan’s case, his decision to launch Collective Mind Technologies (CMT) in 2017 was influenced by a confluence of factors.
Ryan’s entrepreneurial spirit was undeniable. While CMT wasn’t his first business venture, he was committed fully to this endeavor. His passion for Apple products along with his technical expertise allowed him to support fellow entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout various stages of growth.
A major inspiration for starting CMT coincided with the start of our family. In May 2018, Ryan made the bold decision to leave his corporate job and wholeheartedly pursue CMT. Just a few months later, in September 2018, our daughter Lucy came into the world. Though this decision carried substantial risk, we jointly concluded that running our own business, supporting others in their pursuits, and embracing our passions, all while having the freedom and flexibility to be present for our daughter, held far greater significance than the stability of a traditional job.
What should our readers know about your business?
Starting and running a business is not easy. Especially through a global pandemic and while starting a family. It has definitely been a bumpy road to get where we are today, and we imagine there will always be challenges ahead. Honestly, that’s part of what drives us, keep solving the problems in front of us and improving our processes as we go. This not only helps us, but also our fellow small business owners that we collaborate with.
One of the biggest factors that sets us apart from other similar companies is our unique blend of services, technical and creative. We did not set out to create a company that provides both technical support and video production, but here we are! We came to this unique blend of services by following our passions, utilizing our best skill sets, and meeting our clients’ needs as they grow.
We are incredibly proud and grateful for this business that we have created and the team we are building. We are so excited to continue to grow our own team so we can continue to be a resource for growing small businesses throughout the Denver area.
We love building lasting relationships with our clients. As a husband and wife led company we understand the importance of relationships in business. Strong communication, honesty, and teamwork are principles we hold dear. We take the time to understand our clients’ challenges and develop customized solutions unique to them. Because we genuinely care about our clients and their success, we create lasting and productive relationships that benefit everyone involved.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many fun things to check out in Denver.
Our top recommendation is to see a show at Red Rocks. If you can’t make it for a show, stop by to see this majestic venue, check out their museum inside or go on a lovely hike if there’s nice weather. Red Rocks is one of our favorite places ever! We met there at a music festival in 2009.
Another option is to check out all the great food halls and marketplaces such as Avaniti, Edgewater Public Market, or Milk Market. These are all great places to find new amazing foods, hangout with your family, or have a business meeting.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would not have made it through 5 years of this rocky path of entrepreneurship without the support of each other, our friends and family and of course our amazing clients. Our daughter Lucy continues to be a huge reminder for us of why we work so hard to keep CMT going. Our friends and family have supported us through all of our crazy ideas and encouraged us to keep going when we have faced many challenges. We are lucky to have many loyal clients who we have worked with from the early days and have built meaningful relationships and partnerships with, such as FloWater, Admin Awards, CSNA, and AdCo, just to name a few. We have been very lucky to grow along with our clients.
