Meet Sadie Burchfield | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sadie Burchfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sadie, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Since I am still a high school student, juggling running a small business on the side has definitely presented it’s challenges! It’s not really easy to edit six sessions when you’re at school 40+ hours a week since I am a student athlete as well! I’ve found it’s important to focus on not getting so caught up in my biz that I find myself not allowing time to do things outside of school like any other high schooler. My busy season this year has been October-December which is of course right in the middle of the school year, but it’s not always as overwhelming as it is now! I personally think as of recently setting that balance has been rough for me because all of my free time has been filled with shoots and editing, but it’s something I’m continuing to work on! I’ve truly been blessed with clients that have not only trusted me to capture their photos, but have been so understanding and patient with my busy schedule!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love getting to work on all aspects of my business! Editing and culling my pictures from each shoot is what takes up the majority of my time. Trying to make sure each picture is edited to my liking is something that takes lots of trial and error especially because I want to be 1000% satisfied with my work! There’s also tons of behind the scene stuff that takes a lot of time too. Things like managing socials, planning future shoots, designing promotional content, and managing my website are just a few things I am constantly working on! This job is definitely not just clicking a button and delivering the pictures, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! I love every aspect of my job and the way it allows me to be creative in all aspects!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I live in a smaller city outside of Charlotte and we don’t have as many exciting places as Charlotte. If you were visiting in the holidays I would definitely recommend visiting McAdenville (aka Christmastown USA). It’s a town that decorates a large group of houses along with their downtown with tons of Christmas lights and decorations! Also, you can’t come to this side of Charlotte without going by Tony’s Ice Cream, seriously the best!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh my goodness my family deserves a huge shoutout for their support! Since I am pretty young to be managing a business I am so thankful for the support system my family has become. From looking through every finished gallery and giving me their feedback, to being there to bounce ideas off of and helping me execute them! From the very beginning when I showed my interest in starting this business they’ve shown they were there for me in every way! They’re seriously my biggest cheerleaders and I could never do enough to thank them!
