We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandra Spence and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe the success of my brand can be attributed to a combination of strong client relationships and a deep well of creativity. I take the time to truly listen to the challenges my clients face within their homes, understanding their unique needs and preferences. By doing so, I am able to provide innovative, out-of-the-box solutions that not only address their immediate concerns but also enhance the overall functionality and aesthetic of their space. This personalized approach allows me to build trust and deliver results that exceed expectations, creating lasting connections with my clients.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I chose “Re” for my business name, Spence Re Design, because it reflects my focus on restoring, renewing, recycling, and reusing. What sets my design business apart is my emphasis on repurposing. One service I offer is redesigning a room using the furniture, artwork, and accessories clients already own. I believe we all have plenty of possessions, but often don’t know how to arrange them to maximize their potential. I utilize a technique called Visual Coordination, which involves reading the architecture of a room to determine the best layout. This unique approach allows me to completely transform a space using what you already have, setting me apart from other designers. Another service I offer is kitchen design using recycled cabinetry. High-end homes frequently undergo kitchen remodels, and these cabinets are resold to prevent them from ending up in landfills. I connect budget-conscious homeowners with these cabinets and create stunning new kitchen designs using the recycled materials. It’s like solving a massive puzzle, and the results are truly remarkable.
I’m proud of the fact that what I do helps people save money and save the environment. I’m thrilled when clients place their trust in me and my redesign process because I’m confident they’ll be amazed by the results. My success has been shaped by the wonderful people I’ve worked with who have shared their positive experiences. I believe that beauty can be found in everything, and I’m passionate about helping others love and enjoy their homes by enhancing their unique style.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live West of Loveland and if we had company for a week these are the places I would take them:

A hike at Bobcat Ridge Open Space
Drinks and pizza at Berthoud Brewery
Ice cream at Dairy Delight
Stroll through Loveland Sculpture Park
Axe throwing at Axe To Grind
Drinks and tacos at Vatos Tacos
Show at The Rialto Theater
A day in Estes Park
Visit the Masonville Mercantile

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The beginning of my story starts with the book called “Decorating for Good” by Carole Talbott. She invented the process of reading the architecture of a home and called it Visual Coordination. I was certified as a Visual Coordinator in 2008 and this gave me the confidence to start my business. In 2013, I enrolled at Front Range Community College, where I earned a certificate in kitchen and bathroom design. The passionate instructors there played a pivotal role in helping me advance my skills. I also want to give a shout out to Ben’s Repurposed Cabinetry for his dedication to keeping good usable cabinets out of landfills. His vision helped me refine my skills and grow as a kitchen designer. I am a member of BWNFC and e-Women Network and what I experience in these groups is support and motivation to continue growing my business.
