We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara & John Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara & John, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
This life. I worked as a Respiratory Therapist at a children’s hospital for 10 years, and the most significant thing I took from that experience was to really honor how precious our lives are. Every breath that we can take unassisted, every day that we have the opportunity to step outside into the sunshine, into our livelihood…our freedom, that is truly precious and should be celebrated as such. Coming back into gratitude and working, building and striving from a heart centered space. This makes me happy. We are truly blessed.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Hempy Llama Tea Company was created out of necessity. After working in the medical field for 10 years + losing both of my parents before I turned 35, I knew the importance of holistic medicine, natural ways to aid our bodies and minds. We knew how incredibly powerful hemp is and its potential for bring the human body back into homeostasis. That being said, it was legalized just a couple of years ago, so it’s not quite as mainstream or accepted as CBD oil. This presented quite a few hurdles for us. It’s already very challenging to build a business from the ground up, now let’s add a product that still has a stigma attached to it because of it’s close cousin Mary Jane. It took months to find a domestic bank to work with us, every license costs about 4 times as much because we are working with raw hemp flower, and we are only legally able to ship within the U.S. at this time. Every tea blend had to be tested to verify cannabinoid levels. A lot of little extra steps in the background to ensure that we are bringing a high quality product to our customers. What we wish for everyone to know about Hempy Llama Tea Company? That it is a labor of love. Of course we strive for success as we build a legacy for our family, but above all else….our intention is for people to know that there is this amazing, healing plant medicine that’s capable of so much. To ease the mind, to calm the body, to relax the heart….at the end of the day, that’s everything. We are so excited to place Hempy Llama Tea into more local shops and coffee houses all over the United States! We will continue to come out with new flavors of tea and integrate new strains of hemp flower to serve humanity.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We live pretty close to the Grand Mesa National park and it is absolutely gorgeous! We would (and do) take our friends hiking out into woods, and during the winter do a little sledding with the kids down suicide hill (don’t let the name scare you). We would grab a cup of coffee or an iced dirty hippie from Stacey’s on mainstreet and catch a double feature at the local drive in. Maybe hit up a dispensary too! But honestly, our happy place is being at home. Cooking and playing, enjoying the view of the San Jauns from our backyard…that’s the best time.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to recognize a local couple that are doing amazing things. They create health products that are natural and foods that are meant to optimize our bodies. Here is there info www.mesamicrofarming.com
