Meet Sarah Strong | Professional Organizer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Strong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what principle do you value most?
The value of a successful personal relationship means the most to me. Having people feel comfortable with me and taking the time to get to know someone is the best way for success for both parties. Listening to their pain points and setting goals that are achievable and maintainable for their future success is what I work hard to accomplish in any setting, big projects to small.
Being judgement free allows individuals to make the first step in contacting a business like mine to ask for help. Culturally, asking for help can make someone feel inadequate, lazy or incapable. Oftentimes we let our egos and pride get in the way of making changes that we know will better us. Being judgement free and creating a personal relationship breaks that barrier and allows people to let someone like me into their personal space. Once we allow others in to help we can break free and find that freedom we all desire. Whatever their goals are, we will accomplish them together.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
A Little Less was created after a long weekend of cleaning up my kids’ toys and trying to shove towels in a cabinet that was too full. I had recently started following some bloggers on the topic of decluttering and wanted to have this “freedom” that they all wrote about. I was at a stage in my life where the “things” didn’t matter as much to me anymore and instead I wanted a home that was not a place of stress. I wanted to come home and feel relaxed and have time to get back to what I enjoyed doing.
After my own transformation, I reached out to a few people I knew, posted some things on social media and low and behold there were other people that felt exactly the same way as I did. From that point, I knew that with my passion to help give people that sense of “freedom” back, making this business a reality was what I needed to do. I built my business over 4 years on the side while I worked full time at a corporate job. I hustled and put myself out there because I wanted to make my services available for as many people as I could.
As of today I have officially been a fulltime solopreneur for 15 months. It has been the hardest work I have done ever in my life and I wouldn’t change it for the world. The feeling I get when I am working side by side with a client, or when they return home from work to see their space and systems set up – that look on their face, the tone of their voice – they are so truly grateful and that feeling is worth all the late nights and really sore feet!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First off if any of my friends are reading this please buy a ticket now and we will make this happen!!!
Day 1-2: Heading to Steamboat Springs and stay in the caboose at Strawberry Hot Springs for 2 nights. If it’s summer we will do some tubing and hiking around town – if it’s winter some snowboarding and cross country skiing (I am seriously soooo bad it’s funny just to watch)!
Day 3: Drive to Glenwood and stay at The Hotel Denver – because you need some western history and the rooms are super cool! Hike, hot springs then end with some mountain coaster riding and caving at Glenwood Caverns…who doesn’t like swinging over that mountain drop off?!?!
Day 4: Do a quick drive and walk through Aspen (because I’ve never been) then stop in Vail for a gondola ride and some food at Bart & Yeti’s then a walk through the town.
Day 5: Get back to Erie where I live. Have a hang day with my family and some food and drinks at The Old Mine.
Day 6: Drive into Boulder for a hike at Chautauqua, lunch at The Dark Horse and some Pearl Street evening adventures.
Day 7: Denver day – find some live music somewhere and check out Lo-Hi and Rhino district while eating and drinking along the way.
As you can see my friends will be very tired after their trip here but I LOVE to do all the things. We will throw in some dancing and maybe karaoke – all the food and yummy drinks at hole in the wall places! I realize that this itinerary might scare some people but that’s how I roll.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom 100%. I learned from her how to keep a household organized, which we can all attest is one heck of a job. From the little things like grocery shopping and cleaning, to managing the family event schedule year after year. Our house and the belongings in it had a purpose and a place. She taught me that everything has a home and when you have less of something you have less to maintain it. Most importantly she taught me how to relate to people, and how to have compassion and grace for others. We were raised to find a way to give back to others and to put our skills to use. She has been my number one cheerleader since I started on this journey 5 years ago and helped me along the very emotional and stressful path when I decided to make this business my career. I know I gave her a lot of grief growing up but as a parent now I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for my mom and I thank her for all that she taught and sacrificed for me.
