We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Singh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sasha, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve been naturally drawn to artistic expression and have a passion for creating visual art. I have a deep appreciation for aesthetics, while enjoying exploring my imagination. I find deep fulfillment in the process of self-expression.
Now as an adult, I find art a powerful tool that can inspire, provoke thought, and evoke emotions. I have a desire to bring about positive change through my creative endeavors, by inspiring others to express themselves, whether that’s through purchasing one of my paintings for their homes, or learning how to paint intuitively by attending one of my art workshops.
A career in the arts, offers an opportunity for self-discovery, personal growth, and the ability to make a living doing what I love.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Painting holds a special place in my heart. I’m most proud of how I overcame my fear of authentic self-expression. I remember feeling uncomfortable and out of my depth when I began painting. I would work full time during the day, then come home and begin painting from sunset to sunrise in my room. I began experimenting with acrylic paint, and fell in love with the way it could be layered. The quick dry time is my favorite part, it allows me to add multiple layers.
I place my heart and soul fully into my work, expressing my burning desire to share my unique perspective of life. Art is meant to be observed with child-like wonder. You can read my paintings, like chapters of my book, as each piece of art I create has a story of its own.
Deep thoughts and inner most feelings allow me to create with purpose. I gravitate towards colorful hues, and abstract brush strokes. I share my story with the world to spread positivity, love and light.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in sunny SW Florida, in a town called Cape Coral. Here you will find a relaxed way of life, as the entire area is surrounded by water. The beach is about 30 minutes away (minus traffic) and the town is fueled by small businesses, ranging from restaurant to boutique owners. My favorite places to check out would be Botanical Brewing Taproom, which offers non-alcoholic beverages that are plant derived, and if you’re hungry, lets check out Gather which is right by the boat docks and offers delicious small plates to share.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was strongly encouraged by my family to lean into the arts. My parents provided me with all the art supplies my heart could desire, which lead to my fascination towards the arts at a young age. Throughout high school and college, my professors enabled me to deepen my passion for creating. I appreciate the consistent support today from my loved ones. My 3 year old daughter inspires me to keep pursing my dreams of being an artist.
