We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Hopcus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, what matters most to you?

Servant leadership is not just a philosophy for me, it is a way of life. By putting the needs of others first, I have been able to build a team of trust that works collaboratively towards our goals. This approach has allowed us to create a culture of innovation and creativity, where everyone is encouraged to share their ideas and opinions.

I believe a leader’s role is to empower their team to be the best version of themselves. By investing in their personal and professional development, we create communities that are more engaged, productive, and committed to our mission of strengthening and deepening connection to ourselves and others.

As the Founder and President of Connection Project, LTD, I value the importance of building connections. This is why we are focused on promoting mindfulness and building meaningful relationships. When we take the time to connect with others and understand their perspectives, we create a more inclusive and compassionate world, which has been instrumental to our continued success and growth.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

Connection Project is a unique business that focuses on individuals who have turned their personal struggles into a community-driven cause. We take a fresh approach to mental health by promoting unashamed conversation and creating support systems for people to deepen their relationships with their work, play, and the world. As the founder of Connection Project, I serve as a motivator and catalyst for powerful cultural change within both for-profit and non-profit organizations. I believe connection to one’s self, transparency, and passion allows individuals to live a wholly authentic, full life.

What sets Connection Project apart from others is its focus on individuals who have turned their personal struggles into success. Through raw focus on the individual, we nourish honest conversation to birth a system of ‘next level’ social responsibility. My own mission is to advance human connection by embracing the conversation among fighters; the folks whose journeys from black to light give hope to those that deserve a 2nd or even a 3rd chance to be the ambassadors of conversation.

The Connection Project team has evolved how it serves others by drawing on personal experience, acknowledging the amount of effort it takes to recover, and understanding the importance of sharing each other’s journeys. Together, we ignites cultural shift because everyone, directly or indirectly, is affected by mental health.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado is an incredible place to explore-urban and rural. Near home, I always like to get outdoors whether it’s a walk around Wash Park or a bike ride at Cherry Creek Reservoir. And if extra time is available, I love to get in the car and explore everything this incredible state has to offer, which could be a mountain drive or hike just to enjoy some of our scenery. Regardless of where your journey takes you here, I am certain it will be memorable and filled with beauty.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My story is one that is built from turning pain into purpose. Through devastating lessons and loss, I have been Divinely guided to exactly where I am meant to be.

Growing up, I faced challenges that left me feeling lost and alone. I have experienced mental health challenges and feelings of unworthiness that made it difficult to connect with others. Through each struggle, I found a passion to serve others who were going through similar setbacks.

After some life-changing loss, I began volunteering with a Colorado mental health nonprofit, NAMI Arapahoe/Douglas Counties. I learned valuable tools to better navigate the ups and downs of life and discovered my own gift for listening and providing support to others in need. This realization motivated me to become a certified coach and go on to positions of leadership within the very organization who met me during my darkest days.

During my journey of self-discovery, I met some of the most difficult challenges of my life. I lost loved ones, faced financial misfortune, and experienced personal setbacks that left me feeling hopeless. But through it all, I knew my higher purpose was to help evolve the narrative of how the world sees mental health.

My experience gives me the wisdom to help others who are struggling with mental health and facing difficult life transitions. I know firsthand how hard it can be to navigate these challenges, but I also know it is possible to use pain for purpose. Through my own journey, I have gained the empathy and understanding that allows me to connect with people on a deeper level. And through Divine guidance, I have been able to use my story as a catalyst for others growth and transformation.

My story is a living testament to the power of perseverance, faith, and the ability to turn adversity into opportunity. I am certain where I am today is the beautiful culmination of every experience. And, with that, know every painful step mattered.
