We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Morrison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
“If you do what you love, you never work a day in your life.” This just isn’t true, but “doing what you love” does make your work easier and more rewarding. 🙂

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am just going into my third year being a full-time videographer and business owner, and I still have a lot of growing to do in the business, but things have been going well, and my biggest advice would be to be smart, don’t be afraid to trust others and work with people who are passionate about what they do. Skills can be taught, but passion is either there or not. Also in order to grow organically, you have to be okay with trusting others and allowing people to make mistakes and grow from them. You have to think about things from employee’s perspectives, help them get to where they want, and appreciate them for their progress.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Boulder. I’d take them to Rincon Argentino for empanadas for lunch, Temaki Tornado, my chef friends’ new sushi hand roll food truck, and ramen at Uncle in Denver. Drinks at No Name Bar, Bitter Bar, or License No 1 in Boulder. Maybe live jazz at Ace Gillett’s Lounge in Fort Collins. Hiking Bear Peak, maybe go down south to see the sand dunes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother has been a huge help with keeping track of my business taxes, contracts, and legal advice. I owe her a lot.
