We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business has always been a goal of mine. I wanted to be my own boss forever. Lafayette, where I live really needed a good barber so I wanted to be able to provide services to the community in my own space with my own vibes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I just want to give amazing, quality haircuts and service. I’ve put in a lot of work and extra time behind the scenes to be the best barber I can be and I also learn and grow all the time. The barber life is a grind, never give up. Stay on point with everything. Time , tools , service and give quality cuts and you will be successful.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Teocalli has the best tacos and cocktails, the community is great for sit down dinner, Otis for coffee, Button rock bakery for amazing food and desserts, acreage for food/drinks and greats views. Ruby ru’s for a delicious quicker meal, Personally, 24 hour fitness for me. Shoutout tandoori kitchen for Indian food, odd 13 for a beer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout Jove the barber who originally got me into barbering in Los Angeles, definitely opened up my eyes to the game. In Colorado, shoutout Gabe from steadyhand, Murph and don from altitude, sway out in LA all inspired/helped me out in the beginning my career. Shoutout my barber class/teachers at Emily Griffith for amazing memories while getting my license. Shoutout Vic blends and barber Josh op for really dialing me in and helping me get better at cutting hair.
