We had the good fortune of connecting with Selennnart Is Divinely Fat and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Selennnart, what’s your definition for success?
I am a free minded, multidimensional artist. I define success by allowing myself to simply be as I please. Being able to acknowledge all of my intersectional identities and feeling the freedom to express myself through my art makes me feel successful and bubbly with new ideas to explore. Once I really internalized how powerful being connected to nature can be, I feel successful when I get to feel the sun on my face and escape society for just a moment. I feel successful when I feel the vibrations of the earth flow through my feet and into my hands and canvas. I am in a constant state of success because I allow myself to be me.

Having this mindset does not come easy, nor is it easy to accept that I am deserving of such abundance. I am constantly finding new ways to define success daily within my mental health journey.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think my art is a passion of mine that I just happened to turn into a business, I didn’t seriously consider selling my art until I held a booth at an end of the school year event. I actually only hosted that booth with the intention of clearing out storage since I was moving. The turn out was so great I thought, why not just keep on trying to sell your art? Why not just keep on sharing your art and see what happens from there? So I started being more present on social media and keeping my feed up to date with my latest creations. After 3 years of freelance work with various creative mediums, I was able to find a dream job with a local non-profit that allows me to merge my creativity with serving my community. I’m grateful for this journey and to be successful from sharing my imagination and just simply being who I am.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This question is funny to me because I actually have a good friend coming by to visit soon and I have loads of fun stuff planned! I’m taking them to Global dance fest, relaxing at hot springs and camping by a cute creek with wildflowers and a great view! I’m excited to take them to some of my favorite local restaurants in Colorado springs and Denver like heart of Jerusalem, Kahlos, and Santana’s. I love that Colorado is full of things to do, always something new to try and experience!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna give a shout-out to my momma, she taught me how to self-start and make my ideas into reality. I am incredibly grateful to have such a creative momma who pushes me to make art no matter what we’re going through in life. 🤟

I also wanna give a shout out to my heart, Aryeh. He’s been there for me and supported me through all my ups, downs and spirals haha. I am blessed to have an incredible soul to share life with and you encourage me to be as “me” as I can be and I’m grateful for your love and support with my art journey too Aryeh! ❤️

Last but definitely not least, I wanna give a shout-out to my art community ✨ for supporting and admiring my art, lifting me up which turned to inspiration to sharing my art with the world. All of your love has turned me into the artist I am today. I can’t thank y’all enough! 💜💜💜
