Meet Serena Goering | Real Estate Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Serena Goering and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Serena, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
When you talk to Serena Goering, one thing becomes clear immediately—this isn’t just real estate to her. It’s family, legacy, and faith all woven into acres of possibility.
A 6th-generation Colorado native, Serena’s story begins in the rugged beauty of the Unaweep Canyon, Whitewater, and Gateway areas—land her family first settled in the 1880s. With deep roots in cattle ranching and construction, she was raised to understand hard work and heritage. “I was running heavy equipment and tractors by the time I was eight,” she laughs. “That kind of hands-on upbringing teaches you to respect the land—and the people who rely on it.”
That early experience led to a high school summer job building the private residence and resort for Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks—a full-circle dream she still carries. “I want him to call me to sell his property in Gateway,” she grins. “I’ve literally worked on every inch of that land. My family once owned a lot of it—it would be an honor to bring it home.”
A former athlete, Serena played volleyball and basketball in high school and even competed in Italy before heading to college at Point Loma Nazarene University. But life had other plans. After a heavy equipment accident, her father grounded her—literally—and nudged her toward real estate. That moment turned out to be the defining pivot of her career.
“It was the best step of my life,” she says. “Every experience I’d had—from construction to relationships—clicked into place in real estate.”
One of the most powerful moments came when she was hired to sell her family’s Home Ranch, a property she hadn’t seen in years. “Walking that land again brought everything full circle. I realized this is where I belong—helping others find their own slice of Heaven on Earth.”
She’s fiercely protective of the land, not just as an agent, but as a steward. “It’s in my blood. I believe the right person is out there for every property—and vice versa. It’s my job to make that match.”
Ask her clients how they’d describe her, and you’ll hear the same three words: caring, hardworking, and determined. And she wouldn’t change a thing about that. “I love hard, work hard, and play hard,” she says. “I want people to enjoy life—and if I can help make that happen, I’m all in.”
She’s no stranger to the challenges of the industry, especially when the market turns chaotic. During COVID, she helped first-time homebuyers navigate 27 showings, 11 offers, and two failed contracts—before landing them in a home thanks to a phone call from her very first clients. “Two families got their American Dream in one deal,” she says. “That’s why I do this.”
Her work is deeply grounded in faith and integrity. “I try to live my life walking in faith and leaning into my Christian values,” she says. “I’ve been burned before—it hurts—but I choose to keep learning and growing so I can serve my clients even better.”
For new agents entering the field, she doesn’t sugarcoat it: “You’ll cry, fall, and want to quit—but if your heart is in it to help people, stick with it. It’s worth it. If you’re only in it for the money? Just don’t.”
When she’s not helping clients chase their dreams, she’s out chasing her own. Whether she’s off-roading, exploring ghost towns, or reading by a fire, life is an adventure. Her family competes in Cowboy Mounted Shooting, and she’s a proud supporter of the sport’s tight-knit community. She still loves running heavy equipment and is currently helping her family build an RV park on their property, where her parents, sister, niece, and herself live in a lively family compound with six dogs, three horses, and three cats (and maybe soon—alpacas, if Dad finally gives in).
Her heart also beats for service. She’s active at Stillwater Cowboy Church and contributes regularly to Ravens Ministries, which supports the Tarahumara Indians in Mexico with everything from clothes to medical supplies. “It’s an incredible ministry. I feel so blessed to be a part of it.”
And her real estate life? It’s anything but solitary. As a Keller Williams agent, she thrives in collaboration and community. She and her fellow agent, Julie Berg along with their Licensed Assistant / Business Manager, Nicole Farabee, host multiple events throughout the year. “We’re even putting on an Easter Egg Hunt this weekend at a non-profit I helped purchase a legacy property for,” she says. “For me, work and fun go hand in hand.”
Looking ahead, her goals are big but deeply personal: build more RV parks, retire her parents, help her nieces and nephew achieve their dreams, create affordable housing, and support fellow entrepreneurs.
“More than anything,” she says, “I want to leave a life I can be proud of. I want to help people, love people, and bring happiness wherever I go.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
They MUST visit Gateway and the Hanging Flume! Enjoy the gorgeous scenery as you travel the Unaweep Canyon! Best places to eat are Monarca Cantina in Clifton and Bistro 317 on Main in Grand Junction. Both are owned by my friends!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
