Meet Shalisha Moreno | Producer and Founder at Tehôm Productions

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shalisha Moreno and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shalisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting Tehôm Productions (Tay-home) was rooted in a desire to make meaningful impact in my hometown of Colorado. I went to film school in Los Angeles— not because I wanted to leave, but because it offered the best education and industry exposure. However, I always envisioned bringing that caliber of opportunity back home. I wanted to build a space where filmmakers could create high-quality films without needing to relocate to major or even bigger hubs like LA or New York. Tehôm was born from a filmmaker-first-mindset—prioritizing authentic storytelling over chasing trends or view counts. As a self-starter and aspiring producer, entrepreneurship was a natural path. My goal was to design a company that could streamline production, reduce barriers to entry, and empower emerging creatives with the tools and support they need to succeed.
Ultimately, the vision behind Tehôm is to build a groundbreaking creative hub where storytellers and dreamers are empowered to transform their written words into vivid, cinematic experiences. By connecting artists through collaborative efforts and leveraging cutting-edge technology, we aim to produce authentic, diverse, and innovative content. Our goal is to cultivate a thriving production ecosystem in Colorado that not only supports creativity and originality but also sets new standards in the industry for how stories are told and brought to life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ironically enough, my professional journey is a blend of art, creativity, and business. As a producer, I’ve always been drawn to the strategic side of filmmaking—but my path into the industry began through creative expression, specifically video editing. I always knew I wanted to be a producer, but that never diminished my love for the creative craftsmanship that brings a story to life.
I was about 16 or 17 when I produced my first film. I wore nearly every hat—producer, editor, sound recorder, craft services, camera operator, and even director. That experience taught me just how much dedication, endurance, and heart it takes to make a film happen. Once I got to college, I faced more challenges. I pursued producing seriously, but since I lacked the experience upperclassmen had, I wasn’t always trusted with projects. So, I began producing my own films—and through that, I quickly became one of the most recognized producers in my class.
The challenges haven’t stopped. Every film brings new hurdles—budget constraints, scheduling issues, location changes, or crew dynamics. But through it all, I’ve learned to rely on others, communicate clearly, and remain resilient. I’ve also learned that what others say about your qualifications or potential doesn’t define your future. If you stay focused, driven, and committed to your dreams, you’ll go further than you ever thought possible.
That spirit is what led to the founding of Tehôm Productions. Our brand exists to break down barriers for emerging filmmakers. We are committed to building a film studio that prioritizes storytellers, creates opportunities outside of traditional industry hubs like LA, and empowers creatives to produce authentic, diverse, and visionary content. Tehôm isn’t just a company—it’s a movement to reshape what access, excellence, and innovation look like in independent film.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many individuals and organizations who have played a meaningful role in helping me reach the goals I’ve set for myself. First and foremost, I’d like to recognize my family. Though I grew up in a broken home, I was always surrounded by unwavering love, encouragement, and support from my parents and siblings. I’m also deeply grateful for the mentors I had at church, especially Pastor Manuel Melendez and other staff and mentors I encountered at Radiant Church, who spoke life into me during pivotal moments and gave me the chance to explore my capabilities in film. My high school, Colorado Springs Early Colleges (CSEC), deserves recognition for fostering an environment where students were encouraged to pursue their futures boldly. In college, the friendships and mentorship I found at Biola University—including the guidance and affirmation of my MBA mentor, Deborah Mayes—helped shape the vision and courage behind Tehôm. I’m incredibly thankful for the community that believed in me before everything was fully in motion.
