We had the good fortune of connecting with Shameisha Redden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shameisha, how do you define success?
Success to me is how many people you can help, how many people’s lives you can positively impact, being able to leave a meaningful mark on the world and the people you’ve encountered along the way. Never missing an opportunity to be a blessing to someone in need. Raising children that don’t have to heal from their childhood. Having an abundance of gratitude, achieving inner peace and being healthy, mind, body and spirit.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I create beautifully fragrant handmade bath and body products from my home which include bath bombs, body oils, body butters, sugar scrubs and bath salts. All the things that make you look and feel good! Baths have always been one of my favorite ways to relax and wind down, so who better to create bath time treats?! Lucid Love Beauty was inspired by and created for hardworking women, mothers, and partners looking to redefine or prioritize what self care looks like as a consistent practice. It is a luxury bath and body self care line to use as a tool to love on yourself, to remind yourself to take a moment to breathe, reset and refresh your mind and body through alone time, reflection and relaxation. Acknowledging that allowing time for self is also self care.

It has not always been easy, creating formulas that work can be challenging. Making bath bombs is definitely a science as there are so many different variables that can contribute to either the success or demise of the perfect bath bomb. Trust me I have seen many bath bombs not make it to see the light of day. Creating these products have really been a tremendous lesson in patience as the only real way to overcome those challenges is really with trial and error, understanding what was done and what could be done differently to get a better outcome. Learning how to tweak a recipe to get it the exact way you like it. Above all patience has been the most valuable lesson on this journey, it truly is a virtue.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Summer months are my favorite time to hang out in my city and Art is one of my favorite things on Earth, I would take her to the Chalk Art Festival, where artists from all over come out to create the most beautiful pieces of artwork with sidewalk chalk. We would go get mani, pedi’s and have picnics with fresh fruit and music in the park. We would go to create beautiful bouquets of flowers with a local florist, or maybe even walk around at the Botanical Gardens. We would spend some time painting and having girl talk and deep laughs at Canvas & Cocktails. We would definitely catch a couple live concerts and go to the Planetarium. We would also make some time for daily yoga and meditation usually before starting our day, and make sure we have PLENTY of time for naps.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Lots of love and acknowledgement would have to go to 3 of my most supportive friends and one of my closest family members…

Amber keeps me grounded, she has talked me off of many ledges, she never ceases to encourage and uplift me whenever I may be in need of some kind words. She is the person I call on when I am low on grace, I can always count on her for a loving word or a prayer. She continuously reminds me that I am worthy of all things great in this world and never lets me forget who I am.

Janay, She was one of my very first customers and one of my very first recurring customers. She supports my business even when I am trying to give products away for free! I have offered items to her that were less than perfect, that I would not sell to the public and she still requires me to give her a price. Little gestures like that really mean a lot to me, there are very few people on this planet that are willing to pay for items that are already marked free. Her love and support means the world to me and I am thankful to be able to call her a friend.

ShaVaughn, gives me guidance in life and business. She is always there when I need her, even if it’s late night. She continuously encourages me and always reminds me to be gentle with myself. I can always count on her to be available for me to bounce ideas off of or for tips and tricks to achieve whatever it is I am looking to execute at that moment, her love and mentorship has been totally priceless along the way and I am wholeheartedly grateful.

And last but definitely not least, my cousin Ashley. She has been very much of my unofficial business consultant along my journey of creating my small business. She is always happy to answer any questions I may have. She has a knack for saying things in a way that is easy to understand, she is extremely knowledgeable and is always there to provide love and motivation, as she is very well aware of what the journey to becoming a business owner looks like. She is consistently available for honest product feedback and constructive ideas to make my brand better as a whole.
