We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanda Starks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanda, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was to find a way to amplify celebrations, make others happy and have the flexibility to be home with my babies. It all started when I was planning my sister’s wedding and manifesting my visions of building a dream trailer to accommodate ANY event ANY time. I knew that I needed to dive in the moment I couldn’t stop thinking about it! I was up every night creating my logo and having so much fun with it. I knew my passion pursuing my vision was only going to be brought to life if I followed through and trusted myself to take action. I’ve always wanted to be a business owner and everything about Pull Party came so naturally and felt right!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been in sales working for our family business (Pro Hydraulic) for over 13 years now! I’m very much a people person. I enjoy meeting and interacting with people on a daily basis! It fills my cup to be able to confidently help serve others in areas of need. I’m also a mom of two beautiful kids Rhett (3) and Gracie (1). On top of my part time job at Pro Hydraulic and taking on being a small business owner, being a mom is my most gifted role! I have learned so much already in motherhood. It is not easy being away from my babies but starting Pull Party has been such a blessing to incorporate that work/life balance while pursuing a career I love!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live just north of Denver! If I were to have a friend come visit I would take them downtown to eat at Happy Camper because the vibes are immaculate! Then we would hit up Little Man Ice Cream for a fun treat. I personally am not a huge downtown girly but it’s always fun to hit up Retro room for some pickle shots and grab a couple drinks! I also enjoy going to Top Golf and if we’re feeling adventurous and up for a challenge the Manitou Incline is a beautiful hike! For someone that is new to the Colorado going to the mountains is always a great time. My family and I visit Steamboat almost yearly and it’s a beautiful town to see!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, mom, dad and a few close friends. It’s always scary starting something new and they supported me from the moment I presented my idea to them! I can’t thank them enough for helping and encouraging me while I continue to grow my business and make it all happen!
