We had the good fortune of connecting with Shauna Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shauna, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
You know, I’ve been a single-mom…twice. Needless to say, I’ve worried that I might not be able to be Mom AND the household provider the way my children need me to be. In the end, I hope to be able to look back and know I lifted others when they felt that way too. I want to run an insurance agency that is big enough to employ and train several parents who need a way to start over and give them enough flexibility to be both the parent and the professional.

For now, Front Range Insurance Solutions is run by only me and my husband. As our agency continues to grow, I set a little time aside each week (5am-7am every weekday morning) to create a training course so I will be ready to teach my new team-members when the not-so-far-off time comes for me to hire. I want to be ready to help people who are in the place I once was to feel supported and to have the tools they’ll need to become successful. This effort is a double win. As I serve my team by teaching, they will be better able to serve our clients and community through their knowledge, and people will know they can trust the agents of Front Range Insurance Solutions. Being prepared for this part of my career journey is very important to me as it allows me to bless others with the opportunities I’ve been blessed with.

By the time I’m ready to retire, I hope to be as my grandfather, Marion Rayback was when he closed his plumbing shop; financially able to help his children, prepared for retirement, and adored by his community because of his love for them. When I first started marketing here in Erie, I constantly bumped into people who would tell me stories of how Grandpa helped them start their business, how he saved them from freezing when they stumbled upon his hunting campground, how he donated plumbing supplies to a teenager who wanted to make an amazing potato gun, how he gave a basketball hoop to Sister Carmen’s for at-risk youth, etc. I want to make a difference like that. I’m doing what I can to build my own legacy of caring by serving and teaching now to the best of my ability when I have the opportunity.

What sets you apart from others?
I come from a longline of insurance professionals. My grandpa Jack, was a district manager for Farmers Insurance. My uncles, my father, and a few of my cousins followed in Grandpa’s footsteps and joined the insurance team.

I personally worked for several agents until recently when I opened the doors to my independent agency (yes, the word independent means I can shop for you).

If I were to mark the things that make me different from other agents, I would say I never stop learning, I have a passion for insurance, and that my clients are my friends and I stand by their side when they need me.

I saw several agents become stagnant once they reached the point where they could complete a quote. For me, that’s not enough. I need to understand why I am doing what I am doing so I can do it best and do it right. Each week, I make sure to take at least one continuing education course or read something that will teach me more about what I am doing. Insurance is fluid, constantly changing. So it’s crucial that I keep up with the changing information as much as I can.

My heart is anchored in acts of service. For this reason, I have a passion for insurance. I see it as a network of people who hold up our community’s financial net to catch those who might have fallen completely without it. As silly as it may sound, insurance is a truly beautiful concept to me.

One of my uncles told me a story that has resonated with me for years. He was also an insurance agent and had an elderly client who once called him in the middle of the night to ask if he would come over because she believed someone was breaking into her home and she didn’t know whom else to call. When he reached her home, she invited him in and asked him to pray for her. He did, and then he stayed until she felt she was safe again. When my uncle told me that story, I knew I wanted to be the agent whose clients knew they could trust as a friend. One who was there when they needed them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend lives in Alaska. When she comes to visit, we seek out outdoor and food adventures. Both of which Colorado has MANY to offer.

We’d go on a Wednesday because the Boulder Symphony practices on Wednesdays (sans COVID). I’d take her hiking at the Royal Arch Trail in Chautauqua Park in Boulder, take pictures with the arch and all of Boulder city as our background, stop by the concert hall (which we pass on our way back to the parking lot), and listen to the symphony practice for their summer concert(s).

Later in the day, I’d treat her to a meal of ramen, wanko sushi, and country vegetable side dishes at Domo Japanese Restaurant. We’d make sure to save enough time to visit the garden, Japanese WWII Museum, and Dojo in the back of the restaurant after our amazing meal.

To end the evening, I’d take her to a concert at Red Rocks. There is nothing quite like being at a concert surrounded by the beauty of the red rocks and the canopy of the night sky while listening to live music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I think of my foundation blocks, I think of:

Grandpa Betty and Grandpa Jack Cox, the two people who always made me feel like I am an important part of the family and encouraged me to do good and to keep learn.

Grandpa Rayback who always had a good joke and hard work to share.

My mom who is always in the back of my mind as an example of someone who endures determinedly through hard times.

My dad who showed me how to hustle and get an agency up and running.

My husband who let’s me be the boss (sometimes) and always encourages me to go after my dreams.
