We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Hansson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shawn, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Design build partners outside the custom integration industry, there is often a misconception that our role as the integrator is limited to labor and installation. However, we pride ourselves on being design partners, collaborating closely with our clients and their interior designers to create tailored solutions that enhance their living and working environments. For years, we were considered to be the “tv guys” or the ones who would inevitably come in after the interior designer has drawn up some wonderful and aesthetically pleasing design, and ruin it by placing large boxy TVs and clunky speakers. For years, this was the case, as the technology, and more importantly the brands, did not exist to make a cohesive blend of technology and design.

We and the manufacturers in the custom integration field have come a long way from the days of ruining interiors with clunky technology. We now have access to brands like Leon and Future Automation, who design products that hide technology in the walls and ceilings, and create frames, bezels, and covers to conceal those items that were once an eye-sore. There are also solutions to remove those pesky touch panels from the walls, replacing them with a phone based application or placing tasteful keypads that look sleek and contemporary.

In addition to the new products available to our industry, Logic Integration has moved into the lighting design space. Our expertise in lighting design is a prime example of our effort to blend technology and design. We dedicate countless hours to customizing the placement and specification of light fixtures, ensuring they complement the design elements of the space while promoting a healthy and vibrant atmosphere. Each lighting plan is carefully crafted to align with our clients’ lifestyles, adding both functionality and aesthetic value. By adding in shades and other window coverings to the design, we are fully capable of shaping both the manufactured and the natural light. Utilizing motorized window coverings and the finest LED offerings, we can create a true work of art that affects the mood of all who may inhabit the space.

Our engineering team stays abreast of the latest technological advancements, constantly brainstorming innovative ways to seamlessly integrate shades, speakers, TVs, lights, cameras, and other electronic components into a cohesive system. We prioritize the overall impact on the space, striving to minimize the visibility of technology and reduce any aesthetic disruptions caused by shiny gadgets.

By focusing on these aspects, we ensure that technology enhances rather than detracts from the beauty and functionality of the environment, providing a seamless and harmonious experience for our clients. Our commitment to design and integration sets us apart as true partners in the creation of sophisticated and thoughtfully designed spaces.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
### Editorial Story Response:

Starting my custom integration business was a journey of integrity and determination. Initially, I worked for a gentleman who, unfortunately, lacked honesty and fairness. He regularly installed equipment he knew was faulty and overcharged customers to make an extra dollar. Witnessing these practices, I felt compelled to act. I decided to inform a customer about the dishonest approach my boss planned to take with their project. Although I knew this would cost me my job, I couldn’t continue working for a company that disregarded integrity and customer satisfaction. Sure enough, I was fired.

The very next day, I received a call from the enlightened customer. They asked me to finish the work my former boss had started and suggested that I start my own company instead of relying on the integrity—or lack thereof—of others. Inspired by their encouragement, I bought a van and began sourcing products from reputable sources, often purchasing from other integrators. I completed my first project and gradually took on more, building a reputation for quality and honesty.

Twenty years and many employees later, Logic Integration has grown into a well-tuned, reputable company that prides itself on customer satisfaction and exceptional service. From those humble beginnings, bootstrapping with a single van and a commitment to doing things right, we’ve procured and installed thousands of projects, establishing ourselves as a trusted name in the custom integration industry.
