We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonia Jumaquio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sonia, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’ll start by saying that I used to live in fear. Fear of the future and the unknown. I was doing a prep session for a Lessons Learned for Vets Podcast, and as I’m talking to the host, we came to the realization, that I dive head first into every aspect of my life. I served in the military for 12 years, and the decision to leave was not one I took lightly. As a single mother, being active duty did not align with me being a more present parent. I put everything I had learned from the military as I transitioned, and that was still not enough. When my last day came in the Army, I still did not have a job offer, I did not have a house to live in and I often questioned myself in the process. Thankfully, I landed on my feet. The day I was driving to Colorado, I received a phone call interview and an offer followed later that day. From that point on, everything fell into place for my kids and I. I was thankful for my company for giving me the opportunity.

Two years into that job, I realized I was once again not happy and easily upset. I was once again at war with my duty to serve and putting my children first. As I progressed in my spiritual awakening, it became harder and harder to work in a job that I did not find fulfillment in. I fully believe that once we align with our true selves and our purpose, everything will fall into place. So I once again dove off the deep end and started this business with my soul sister. Starting a business is hard, but not following your dreams is even harder. I love how this journey gets me up in the morning excited to conquer the day.

I think once we stop living in a fear based mindset, the possibilities become endless. I want to say when I’m older, that I chose my life and I just didn’t let life’s current take me any which way. I am humbled and grateful to pursue this new career path of holistic health and wellness through meditation, Reiki and yoga.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are a woman and veteran owned small business. While we are still in the infancy stages of our business, we are so excited to offer space energy clearings along with other holistic healing services.

For those who don’t know, space clearing is removing stale negative energy from a room. Have you ever walked into a room and the heavy energy was palpable? Then you go home later only to find out there was an argument that occurred prior to your arrival? We give off vibrational frequencies all the time. When a traumatic event has occurred in a home or space, that energy lingers until it is cleansed. Your home should be your safe haven, where you feel peace, love and harmony. We want to help others restore the balance in their homes or offices by clearing the build up of negative energy. We’ll also provide clients with our appreciation for their business after the space is cleared.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Colorado is a beautiful state with majestic mountains that are impossible to get sick of. While the high altitude may take some time getting used to, there are so many beautiful places to visit. Our favorite is Manitou, where the famous Manitou Incline is. Comprised of 2,678 stairs that is only a mile up, but climbs over 2k in elevation. While it is the ultimate stair master, and mentally taxing climb, the view makes it all worth it. Downtown, there is skirted heifer which was featured on Diners, Drive ins and Dives, has the best burgers with perfectly melted cheese. Not into meat? Not a problem, Not too far away from that, is Burrowing Owl a 100% vegan restaurant their adult chocolate milk is a must have!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be here without the love and support of my family and my very close right knit group. Who understand me even when I am silent and allow me to live in authenticity without judgement. And last but not least, my business partner Ravyn, who has taught me grace and help guide me on my spiritual journey.
