We had the good fortune of connecting with Natasha Zinda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Natasha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started this business because I view baking as a form of community outreach and care. When I bake I dont just do it for my paying customers. Every farmers market, every event my left overs go to local food pantries providing people with a little sweetness in their life. Most people donate what they dont want and donating such a decadent moment feels like giving people peace. Im disabled and couldn’t work a traditional job and baking and community building are my life. This gave me the sweetest path forward.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a bakery owner was always a dream. I dont have a formal education or u limited funds but my business is unique and the work we do in the community. The events we attend to support. Every single thing we do is intentional. Im building community one sweet treat at a time. My bakery is about sweetness as a form of resistance. We support our local marginalized communities and do the work to make sure they know we do. Our products are unique in flavors and offerings. We mix it up and try things you might not see anywhere else. Like our cakewhiches

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Id take them to lit on fire bookstore and a drive on Grandview and finish up with ice cream at yenis pallartes!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My dad. He has recently passed. He was my best friend and my biggest fan. He believed in me so much he funded me getting my licensing etc. He kept telling me he thought I was gonna be huge. He died 2 days before my first event. Very suddenly. I still worked that event. Even while falling apart. And everytime I bake. Every time I male someone smile or get a good review I know he’s ecstatic for me.
