Meet Stacia McClain | Artist & Your Biggest Cheerleader

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacia McClain and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Like many, COVID reminded me that life is short. The thought of pursuing something I love instead of working for the man both thrilled and terrified me. During lockdown in 2020, I decided to take the advice of loved ones and open an Etsy shop despite my insecurities. Afterall, I had nothing to lose while waiting for the world to re-open!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My pieces mostly consist of wall art inspired by nature and/or love. My goal is to spread joy and uplift others through the memory of a place or with kind words. It hasn’t been easy though! I’ve spent a frustrating amount of money on educational courses, which did not result in more sales as hoped. Despite the seemingly uphill battle, it is so fun to create and put positivity into the world that I just can’t seem to stop! You’ve got to love the whole process – not just the money-making part.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooo friend, we’re definitely hittin’ up 3.14 Pie Bar at least once! They have my favorite ever pot pies and drool-worthy dessert pie by the slice (or whole if you want to get crazy). We can take the dog for a hike in Red Rocks Open Space, or Garden of the Gods, or both! Stroll through Old Colorado City’s cute shops and stop at Slice 420 for the best pizza in the Springs. If we feel like being kids again we can go to the Penny Arcade in Manitou Springs – they have really cute shops there, too. The options are endless in Colorado Springs!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Aside from my rockstar friends and their unending support, Jen Sincero’s book ‘You are a Badass,’ really got my attention! I truly felt like a badass who no limits after reading her book; it completely changed how I look at life. If you haven’t read it yet, you can borrow my copy (as long as you don’t mind the highlights and notes).
