We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefanie Ginsburg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stefanie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The idea of beginning my own private practice stemmed from finding the confidence to be able to effectively treat “whatever came at me,” after having had more than a dozen years in hospital based eating disorders programs. I was navigating different opportunities for growth within a larger company and was having trouble getting around the red tape hurdles. I felt that I had plenty to offer my future clientele but also really wanted to provide my consulting services to other treatment programs and clinicians alike. Before the pandemic was on our radar as Americans, I had made the decision to begin a 100% virtual private practice so that I could have the flexibility to travel and work, whenever and wherever possible.
What should our readers know about your business?
UNRESTRICTED NUTRITION Counseling and Consulting, LLC is a 100% virtual private practice that was a love child born at the start of the pandemic. Based on current licensure laws for dietitians, I am able to work with clients in approximately 21 states and I work with families and children ages 10 and older, adolescents, emerging adults, and adults as well. Being a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Approved Supervisor gives me the opportunity to effectively treat all eating disorders diagnoses, disordered eating struggles, and train other clinicians. My niche within the field of eating disorders is in the treatment of Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. A colleague from Maryland and I are just about to launch a 12 chapter web-based training for eating disorders professionals, entitled, Treating ARFID: The Newest Eating Disorder on the Block.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man, this answer can’t be summed up in a blurb and I will say that I could answer this so much more when I lived in Cheesman Park. Now that I live in Louisville, I still make a point to stay as current as possible with the happenings in Denver. If people are into cruising on bicycles, that’s my biggest recommendation to check out the LoHi, RiNo, LoDo, and Baker neighborhoods. Whether it’s checking out the places in and around Union Station, Crema, Barcelona, Work & Class on Larimer St in RiNo, Safta and The Woods at The Source on Brighton in RiNo, visitors can stay busy and satisfied as a start. Mile High on the Cheap, Eater Denver, and the Westword are great online publications that can provide up to the moment goings on for locals and visitors alike.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely want to give a shout out to the OG team at the Child & Adolescent program of Eating Recovery Center, here in Denver. Many of us have moved up and/or moved on, but the community we created as colleagues and the level of support we were provided to grow into incredibly competent clinicians definitely leaves an indelible mark on my professional journey.
