We had the good fortune of connecting with Steven Lemoine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Steven, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My family has always had an artistic ability but I was always told it comes forth every other sibling. My 2nd oldest aunt, 2nd eldest sibling, had a knack for art and poetry. Her last sister, 4th sibling, was blessed with artistic abilities as well. The eldest cousin, the 1st sister’s son, was bestowed with artistic abilities, myself the first born of the 3rd sibling had the gift and my little brother and first cousin didn’t. I have always wanted to express myself in an artistic manner. Either in the culinary field or with a more familiar artistic medium. With bartending I can do almost everything I wanted to do. Being raised in a somewhat “constrictive” area I had the drive to pursue and escape.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
While in college I always found art history a but….boring. When ever we had a class over history I would always have my best nap, but in my current field the history is so convoluted and needing sifting through it drives me to search for the truth. It’s been a considerable challenge since the Roni hit since everyone had time to just do what they want and on occasion I have had to set my foot down and make sure they understand that what I’m telling them isn’t BS but the actual truth. Only recently have I had to “argue” about a recipe or fact in cocktails. It’s true you may have only experienced a certain recipe but what I bring to the table is the OG. I am here to share good times and to teach.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would hit up my partner’s family, visit the bars of the bonds I made at my last place and head up to the mountains. We have mountains close by back home but not like the Rockies. I’m not one to seek clout or attention but I’d love to show “Family” new members to mine. We’d go down to visit killwillvoulme3, the coloradococktologist, Colorado Campfire, the Shoe, Noonans, Sheabeens, Takoda Tavern, Vy Sushi Bar and Pho(my place but I’d make drinks) and hit up egarcia_24.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I find inspiration from everyday life. Be it a shadow that looks like/reminds me of something, a song that swells emotions, a mouth watering dish I’ve consumed or just looking into my partner’s eyes. Past, present or future can bring forth inspiration for me. It may seem like a copout but I truly mean it. Coming from an artistic background I can absorb the vibes from almost anything…even the experiences I have tried my best to block out mentally. My partner has to be the most constant muse in my life. Over the past few years they have become more and more inspirational. The fact that they are a single parent and that single fact draws forth past emotions and feelings without the sorrow is something in itself. The strength they imbue drives more further and further.
