We had the good fortune of connecting with Summereun Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SummerEun, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m a first generation immigrant from South Korea. Coming from a loving family who is very well known amongst every school I had been to because of how involved my mother was in the community, my family took on a challenge. Learning they wanted the best for me, I was sent abroad at 8 years old not realizing how much things took a change for the worst. Having been separated from my family at a very young age, I sought endurance but more so experienced abandonment, detachment, & dissociation with one of the family homes I was placed in Canada. I think it was because I simply had a hard upbringing being separated from my biological family, in an unfamiliar place and not speaking the language. Though, I learned to use that as a positive advantage in my adult years!
As years passed, I eventually reunited with my biological family in America, but it wasn’t for the better or so my family thought. I was rebellious and emotionless; I was someone I wasn’t proud of. My father had passed & having experience that loss had tremendous pain for me to bear that I sought therapy for the first time to become strong minded. I familiarized myself with removing myself out of distress situations for my mental health. As I took into consideration my mental health & where it was taking me, I realized I wanted to help those and be of resource for them. Since I was young, I had a huge passion for helping children, the homeless, and the community.
As someone who was born into the business industry & having strengthen and developed those knowledge, skills, and abilities through working for corporate for over 10 years, I wanted to utilize these traits through helping people and independent providers by improving mental health and increasing providers book of clientele. With that, Send HEPi was born! Taking one step at a time, I would like to get more exposure for my business to get noticed by Americans nationwide.
My team and I are currently working on a project for mentorship for immigrants, helping immigrants get on their feet by providing resources for mental health, day to day, career and finance. Through financial assistance, I also developed a knack in the financial industry leading to another business of mine that I do! So you can definitely see the entrepreneur in me having not only 1 but another business in the making!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Send HEPi was founded to improve Americans’ mental health by eliminating the stressful process of finding therapy – We’re a Mental Health Matchmaker!
Our goal is to reduce time and energy from both sides; simplifying the process of finding mental healthcare and increase retention by providing quality clients!
Our mission is to be a great support to our community.
The creation of Send HEPi was quite challenging, but luckily, I had many people who were willing to help and guide me in the right direction to get to where it is today. Never underestimate the power of networking!
There’s ample room for improvement, but I’m proud of the business’s progress and excited about its potential!
Improve to become a better YOU.
Be happy with Send HEPi 💘
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
3456Tea is located inside CoArk in Centennial, CO.
Their Korean traditional drinks always give me a sense of nostalgia for Korea.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
– I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my mother. Even as a troubled and rebellious teen, she never gave up on me or my brother. From coming to America with $300 in her pocket, she has managed to put a roof over our heads in Anaheim Hills, California, which isn’t the “cheap” city, to achieving her American dream and owning her own successful salon. Her ambition rubbed off on me; She is my biggest supporter and my backbone. And my friends, for always cheering me on. I’m grateful for the knowledge and experience gained from everyone I meet, whether good or bad.
