We had the good fortune of connecting with Switch1eighty and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Switch1eighty, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my record label with the aim of leaving a legacy. Music Provided a creative outlet for me to let the world know who I am, what Ive learnt along the way and what we can achieve when we focus on something we want.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an Australian Hip Hop Artist that raps about topics that some may find ‘taboo’ Such as religion, the negative aspect of subjugation of women within some cultures and life as I see it in general. At this stage of my career I’m most excited and proud about the release of my debut album Iconoclast and the steady growth Ive had over the 3 years of my Rap Career. I got where I was today professionally by taking baby steps towards opening and operating an independent label and coming out of my shell on the road to becoming a public figure.
It was a hard process, I overcame it by breaking down each task into small manageable pieces and dedicating myself to the business. The lessons learned are you may not have the success you expect, but if you enjoy what you’re doing, keep it up and during that process you may get lucky. Ive also learnt that you get what you put in.
I want the world to know that nobody ‘except yourself’ has your best interest at heart.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we’d hit the gym for a weight session, followed by a visit to the family for lunch, get all the formalities out of the way, after that we’d Hit up the local basketball arena to work up another sweat. Get ready for an evening out with some burgers and stout from the local underground Bankstown brew house and repeat.
On the weekend we’d hit the city for some sightseeing of the Sydney harbor bridge followed by an evening out at one of the many nightclubs Sydney has to offer.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The writer Christopher Hitchens who helped me see the flaws in my logical reasoning and to my Mother Antoinette who taught me that I am capable of success. Also my gorgeous wife Zeina for all her support along the way.
