We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Kuhne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Being a destination elopement planner is the perfect combination of my 2 passions – travel and weddings. From an early age I have always loved traveling and knew that one day I wanted a job that took me around the world. As I got older and worked different jobs, I discovered my passion for wedding planning. After working over 8 years in the luxury wedding and event industry, I finally found my true passion – creating adventurous elopement experiences for wildly in love couples. The couples I work with want to do anything from hiking a mountain at sunrise in a National Park to taking off in a vespa on the Italian coast. I’m so grateful for all the incredible places I’ve gotten to experience through my business!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe what sets me a part from other planner is how personal my brand is. From my daily social media presence inviting others into all my adventures to the verbiage on my website. Couples hired me to work with ME, not just my company. Each of my couples I like to build a real friendship with through the planning process so then when wedding day comes around they truly feel like I’m their elopement planner best friend. I pride myself on creating one of kind, intentional wedding and elopement experiences for all of my couples.

It took over 8 years of hard work to get to where I am today. While my job may seen very glamorous from the outside looking in, I worked extremely hard to get to where I am now [and still do every day]. I jumped at any opportunity to learn, dedicated countless hours working, gave up basically every weekend and holiday with family and friends for many years. In college, most people would be out partying but I was working 3 different event jobs to get experience and focusing on my studies. The path I chose to take out of high school definitely wasn’t typical so I had to take a lot of initiative to even find the jobs that gave me the right experience. I’m thankful for every person who has helped advise me and encourage me along the way!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I just moved to Denver and most of my time is spent in the mountains! But of the little time we’ve spent in Denver, we have loved exploring Tennyson St. and RiNo. Our go to coffee shop is Allegro. Our favorite breakfast Denver Biscuit Co. Check back in a few months and I’m sure I’ll have a lot more local spots to rave about. 😉

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give a shout to my incredible husband, Caleb! He encourages me in my dreams and career ambitions, supports me always, picks me back up on the even the hardest of days, and believes in me, even when I don’t believe in myself. I could not have made it to where I am without his love and support!
