We had the good fortune of connecting with Tamara Moore (she/her/hers) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tamara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Shelby (she/her) and I have wanted to start a business for some time, but when we began to think about our own wedding we realized that inclusivity for the queer community in the wedding industry was something we wanted to be a part of.

We noticed that representation of diverse LGBTQ+ couples was lacking both in he couples featured and in the vendors in the community. We wanted to be the change we wished to see! Additionally, the wedding planning process can be often filled with big emotions of challenging dynamics, unsupportive family members, or a financial stress that can make the process overwhelming, or not the cookie cutter version people often see on social media.

We experienced some of this in our own planning, and wanted to change the narrative. We believe that weddings should be a celebration of the nearlyweds’ love & can be anything and everything the nearlyweds want it to be.

We love love and love celebrating love of others!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As we plan more events, we are learning the two things that set us apart is our JOY and our COLLABORATION. We know a lot of vendors that are organized, communicative, and passionate like us, but the compliment we receive over and over from both vendors and clients, is we bring so much joy to our events, we care deeply about the other vendors we work with, and we work well with others needs and ideas. This is important. Everyone on a wedding team, from us, to the florists, dj, bartenders, etc, has their own goals, their own needs and its’ our job to make sure all of that not only blends together seamlessly, but also that the vendors feel supported and taken care of the day of the events. At the end of the day, all the vendors at a wedding are artists, and our goal is to let our art, their art, and the newlyweds love shine.

Beyond that, we love to be creative! If you like disco balls, bright colors, unique layouts or itineraries, we are the planners for you. There are so many planners who make stunning, neutral, classic events, but we love the the GORGEOUS, UNIQUE, SPARKLY, EXTRA, and FUN vibe.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d like to give a special shout out to Cassandra Johnson. Cassandra was our first client, and immediately believed in our creativity, our vision, and our ability to make our dreams come true. To have someone who knows you are in a period of learning and still want to work with you was a gift that we do not take for granted. Thank you so much Cass for trusting us, for caring about us, and for investing in our future. Thank you for seeing us, maybe even before we saw what we were capable of. We love you!
