Meet Tara Atwood | Realtor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Atwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I think it’s a common thought that business owners feel like they’re unemployable in a sense, not because we’re bad workers, but because we have creative minds. We’re always thinking of new ideas to implement, we’re always finding new ways to do things and finding different ways to better workflow, we’re constantly trying to make improvements. Being in a position where I get to implement my ideas without restriction (outside of the law) is really what motivated me to start my own business. I wanted to impact my community and help people with this big life change and ease their stress to the best of my abilities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started in the industry as an assistant in 2018 in Grand Junction, CO. I moved to the Castle Rock area last year and became an individual agent. Starting a business is never easy and always comes with challenges, no matter how far into it you are, there is always so much to learn and always so much changing. It’s been a challenge starting a new business while transitioning to a new city and especially transitioning from a small town to such a large city, thank goodness for GPS. lol I didn’t know anyone in the city so I had to just jump in with both feet to get myself out there. I really feel like I get to bring some of the small town characteristics to my business and to my clients. These aren’t just transactions for me, these are people that are fully trusting me to take care of them in a huge life change, and I want them to know that I’ll hear them when they speak and I’ll understand how they are feeling when they are unsure and nervous about all of the moving parts. I’m building my business with honesty and integrity and I surround myself with those values everyday.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m honestly still exploring the area myself. So we would explore and try new things together, which would probably make an even better adventure for us. lol I’m such an outdoors person, so I’d have her visit in the summertime!
For one of the days we would start off with some coffee at Copper Door Coffee Roasters in Aspen Grove, go to a lake and paddle board, and go eat dinner at O’Malley’s in Palmer Lake and walk down the street at the local ice cream shop. I love that area! The rest of the days would be finding hikes in the area and watching some sunsets on the patio at my house.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My girlfriend, Katie, she is my biggest support, she’s so encouraging and is always pushing me to get out of my comfort zone and live my best life. She always believes in me when I’m doubting myself. And of course, my parents and sister, they’ve always been very supportive in my decisions throughout my life.

I didn’t have very many pictures from work specifically, other than my hand written letters. So I wanted to have one with my girlfriend, Katie. Since she is the whole reason why I pursued the life that I have and she should get recognized so much for that. And of course our fur babies. lol
