We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara Nalty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tara, how do you think about risk?
As far as taking risks… I feel like I’ve done it my whole life, and it’s guided me along my path. I don’t necessarily look at it as “taking risks” though, I look at it as following my heart. Taking risks is crucial to my personal happiness. My business is my heart and soul, and I feel that it’s worse to NOT take risks… if you don’t risk, you deny your heart’s calling, and you’ll regret it. Everything that I have in my life that I love, I got from being risky.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My main motivation behind my art was happiness. I have grown as a stylist and business owner through my own pursuit of happiness. I am most proud of the culture at Arrow, I have created a loving home for people. When my team tells me how grateful they are to come to work, it makes me feel like every hard and painful detail was worth it. I have learned to never let money- or lack thereof- be the reason you do or do not do something. And I want people to know how authentic me and my brand are. I have attracted people to help me grow from a tiny seed of nothing, and for that I am truly grateful.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a Colorado native and love our city! I would take them to Meow Wolf, because it took so much random shit to come together to create that awe-inspiring art, and I feel like that is who I am. We’d have to grab tacos at a hole-in-the-wall off Federal, I absolutely love the Maroon Bells so we’d go there then have drinks at the Jerome, and we’d of course spend some time on South Broadway near Arrow Beauty.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been surrounded by a truly amazing group of women. I know this sounds cliche, but I love women who support women, and my gals are a part of my heartbeat. Shoutout to Kayleigh David, Ariel Swaney, Peggy Kuegemann, Annie McKune, Lea Curry, my strong and loving family, and all of my soul sisters.
