We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiana Silberberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tatiana, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by love! The reason I do what I do as a wedding photographer is entirely because of love, and its breathtaking ability to inspire me not only creatively, but also personally.
Every love story is completely unique, and that is something we really tend to overlook in day-to-day life. But if you really slow down and take the time to notice and think about all the little, intimate quirks of relationships, you’ll see how different they are and how grand they really are in the small details. The first thing I do when interacting with my engaged couples is I start to piece together their unique love story, their unique relationship. Throughout all of my couples, I’ve found that there is nothing mundane or forgettable about the way they talk about each other or interact with each other, and that the only thing that is universally shared between these vastly different romances is how much love these couples share for one another.
That, to me, is so hugely inspiring. Its inspiring creatively because it pushes me to adapt my photography and my art to authentically capture the love stories unique to each couple I work with. No two weddings I shoot are the same, because no two love stories are the same. Taking inspiration in the love I feel my couples share for each other is monumentally rewarding, and equally exciting in what it does for my art. On a personal level, love inspires me to be more authentic and more present with my own spouse. There’s nothing like photographing a wedding, feeling the outpouring of love a couple shares, and getting excited that I have someone at home that I share that same deep bond with also.
Love is so unforgettable, so rich, and so expansive. How could you not be inspired by it?
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art as a wedding photographer focuses on the romantic, intimate moments through warm, vibrant tones and emotive story telling. My work centers the deep love and connection my couples share with one another and translates it into tangible artistry. This style of intimate, romance focused photography is often reserved solely for elopements, however I set myself a part by applying it to large weddings. You can have a great big wedding and still have intimacy and romance be a top priority, an elopement isn’t a requirement for that.
Getting to where I am now hasn’t been easy. With so much amazing talent in the industry, it can sometimes be hard to stand out and not get down on myself. It’s important to remember, though, that my photography isn’t for every couple, just like another wedding photographer’s work isn’t for every couple. The couples who love my work and want me to be this hugely important part of their wedding are the ones for me. With this mind set it’s easy to let go of comparing myself to others in the industry, because we’re truly not competing with one another.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about my brand, it’s that I’m here for the deeply in love couples who want the romance and story of their wedding day captured just the way it is. Whoever you love, wherever you are, I’m glad you’re here, and I’ve got your back.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My spouse, August, deserves a shoutout for my success! From day one they have always been my number one supporter. They bought me my first camera and told me if photography was something that made me happy, it’s something I needed to pursue. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them, and I certainly wouldn’t be building my dream career if it wasn’t for their love and support.
